Becuase my pc takes forever, it took me a minute to get it all together! LOL!

Janet Jackson is one busy lady she is the cover girl for the latest edition of Essence magazine. She is filming the new Tyler Perry movie for Colored Girls, she’s in love and she’s been named the new spokesperson for the Blackgama Fur campaign. PETA is not happy about Jackson’s latest venture but Janet seems to be happy with it. She looks fabulous in her mink in the black and white photo. Janet follows the likes of Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross and Elizabeth Taylor who have starred in previous campaigns for What Becomes A Legend Most. PETA has lashed out against Janet accusing her of reviving her career on the backs of dead animals. Janet’s love life has also been heating up with her romance with Wissam Al Mana he’s a young rich Arab Man whose family is in the oil business.

Its wedding bells for Alicia Keys who is tired of being labeled a home wrecker. Keys is expecting her first child with producer Swizz Beats. Swizz Beats made headlines when he left his wife and young child to be with Keys. A Caribbean wedding is rumored to be happening this weekend. In September Keys is teaming up with Sade for her charity Keep a Child Alive which assists children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

According to published reports a drug dealer is spilling the beans on Whitney Houston accusing the singer of still being on drugs. The dealer says Houston has a 300 thousand dollar a year habit and that she has not stopped doing drugs. Houston has also gained an alarming amount of weight and sources say it’s because she is on a steroid to help her with her respiratory problems. I had a chance to interview Houston’s ex Bobby Brown. He had no comment on Houston he is currently on tour with the Heads of State, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill. He is keeping the weight off that he lost on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. He looks good, he was happy and he says he is enjoying life with his fiancé and young baby.

Wesley Snipes is finally going to jail. After a ten year fight with the IRS Snipes will have to start serving a three year sentence for failing to file and pay taxes since 1998. Snipes has already given the government 15 million dollars but that did not sway a federal appeals court which ruled Snipes must serve his sentence. There is no word on when he will start serving that sentence.

Keisha Cole’s mom Frankie is working on a new book about her life. The book Two Sides to Every Story is a tell all about her life and the lessons she learned on the road to recovery. Frankie has also been added to the cast of VH1’S Celebrity Rehab.

Are Will and Jada headed to Broadway? After the success of the musical Fela which they co-produced the Hollywood power couple has been approached to star in a new revival of the Tennessee Williams classic A Streetcar Named Desire. The production is scheduled for 2011if it happens Will Smith will play the role made famous by Marlon Brando, Stanley Kowalski.

It’s official after dating for the past three years Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union have come out as a couple. Wade wanted to wait until his messy divorce was over and now he and Gabby can go on with their lives.

Tyrese has announced plans for a new album. Open Invitation is due out next year.

Ice T was embarrassed this week with his recent arrest. Ice T plays a cop on Law and Order and he was arrested in New York for driving without a seat belt and driving with a suspended license.

Actor Michael Ealy has joined the cast of the CBS TV show The Good Wife. Ealy who used to date Halle Berry has a new movie with Chris Brown and Idris Elba coming out in late August, Takers.

Former White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers has been shaking things up in her new role as consultant at Ebony/Jet Magazines. Rogers is unhappy with the rebranding of the magazine which has cost the company over 80 thousand dollars.

For the first time in its 24 year history The Oprah Winfrey Show has suffered its worst ratings. The show has been in reruns but recent data shows an all time ratings low. New episodes start in early September as the show enters its 25th and final season.

Actor Kristoff St. John says he is not leaving the Young and the Restless. St. John has signed on for a comedy pilot produced by the Wayans Brothers. St. John plays the character Neil Winters and he will be featured in a reduced role. St. John won an Emmy in 2008. Maybe if they bring back Actress Victoria Rowell who played his wife Drucilla they will know what to do with his character.

Actress Vonetta McGhee has died. The 70’s icon died from a heart attack at the age of 65. McGhee was married to actor Carl Lumbly. McGhee was best known for her work with actor Max Julian and the movies Shaft in Africa, Hammer and Blacula.

Kevin Hart’s latest DVD Seriously Funny is out in stores. His latest movie Death at a Funeral with Chris Rock, Tracey Morgan and Martin Lawrence comes out on DVD August 10th. Martin Lawrence got married a couple of weeks ago to his longtime girlfriend the mother of his two youngest daughters. Lawrence was previously married to Patricia Smith, the current wife of Football great Emmitt Smith.

John Legend is working on a new project which will include a remake of the Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes classic Wake Up Everybody.

Actress Tariji P. Henson has signed on for the Lifetime movie Taken From Me. The story is based on the true life story of Tiffany Rubin whose 7 year son was abducted by his Korean born father. The story traces her journey to get her son back to the USA.

Gospel Great Walter Hawkins is being hailed as one of the greats in the Gospel music industry. Hawkins died at the 61 from pancreatic cancer. He was working on a new album at the time of his death.

Actor Jaleel White has been cleared of charges for assaulting his baby mama. Authorities say there wasn’t enough evidence. The former star of Family Matters was accused of hitting his baby mama in the mouth. White played the character Urkel.

The 23rd Annual Soul Train Awards will air on November 28th.

Is Mel Gibson crazy or is he being set up by his baby mama? With all the controversy surrounding Gibson whether he’s a racist or a mad man many people wonder what his Lethal Weapon co-star has to say. Where is Danny Glover? Spokespeople for Glover say the actor has no comment on the Mel Gibson controversy.

Faith Evans is coming back with a new album at the end of summer. Something About Faith is coming out September 14th.

Terry McMillan’s long awaited sequel to Waiting to Exhale called Getting to Happy arrives in bookstores September 7th.

Denzel Washington has signed on for the spy thriller Safe House as one of his future projects. Washington, who just a Tony Award for his Broadway performance in Fences, has a new movie called Unstoppable coming out in November.

Maxwell says he will have a new album by next winter, and Fantasia’s long awaited release Back to Me comes out late August.

Idris Elba is hot on the cover of Ebony magazine. His new movie Takers arrives in theatres on August 27th. Speaking of new movies, on August 20th, it’s the Lottery Ticket with Loretta Devine, Ice Cube, Bow Wow, Mike Epps & Terry Crews. Idris is also going to be the Honorary Chairperson along with Jimmy Rollins at this year’s Philly’s Men are Cooking. This event is Saturday November 27th more details coming later.

The Wachovia Center is undergoing another name change. By the fall, the center will be renamed The Wells Fargo Center. The name change will happen before the start of the Sixers and Flyers’ seasons. The building opened in 1996 as the CoreStates Center then it became The First Union Center. The building has been named The Wachovia Center since 2003.

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is being honored at The White House. McCartney is getting the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from The Library of Congress. Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae are among those honoring McCartney. The ceremonies will air on PBS July 28th.

The Steve Harvey Radio Show is coming to TV. The BET network will be airing The Steve Harvey Radio Show on their Centric network starting this fall. Also, get ready for the return of the TV show The Game. The cancelled CW comedy is being revived on the Bet network with the original cast.

Oh Wow! She Used the Cricut Ladies & Gents!

Man! I was really feelin this weeks challenge...well...it was a challenge and let me explain why.

This week with Platinum Scraps, we had to use the Forever Young Cricut Cartridge. Well if you are a friend of mine, you would know that I am a little intimidated of the Cricut machine! YES! I am a little bit scared of it! In my defense, I guess its because I don't have a lot of patience when I scrap! I don't usually like spending hours on one layout! That's just ME though. Some friends of mine will spend literally DAYS on one layout! That's just not me!

Thanks to my good friend Elia (who also designs for Platinum Scraps) she invited me to come over and get familiar with the machine and pick something to use. The thing scared me. I mean everything it does is real real cute, but MAN! All the intricate things you have to do and the multiple colors you gotta work with and so forth just too much for me too handle! LOL! BESIDES if I did finally get comfy with it and begin to like it, that would be something else I would start to collect...lol!

So...let me tell you! This is actually one of my favorite layouts! I LOVE the paper...it is from Bo Bunny...love the vibrant colors! I hope you like the colors too and make you happy! The layout makes me happy and makes me feel so FRESH!

Shallow Thoughts for the Day......

* Nothing ticks you off more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

* I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

* There is a great need for a sarcasm font.

* I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

* I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately
clear your computer history if you die.

* I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

* How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

* I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

* Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

* Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

* I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

* Bad decisions make good stories

* You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

Why did Oprah’s family sell her out? The long awaited unauthorized biography on Oprah by Kitty Kelley is out. Kelley is known for her exposés on Frank Sinatra, Nancy Reagan, The Bushes and Elizabeth Taylor, and now she is doing The Mighty O. I didn’t think anything new would come out of this book because Oprah has always led her life like an open book. So what didn’t we know….well, she dated John Tesh, the musician and former anchor of Entertainment Tonight. He couldn’t deal with the interracial pressure, so he left her in the middle of the night. Oprah never knew her biological dad. She was raised by Vernon Winfrey. Vernon held nothing back. He can’t stand Oprah’s best friend Gayle King. He called her a street heifer. He talked about Oprah’s longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham. Referring to Stedman as a fixture and window dressing, Vernon says they are not in love. He also says the Oprah he knows is not the woman on screen. He talks about her strained relationship with her mother, and says Oprah doesn’t know Jesus. Vernon claims she lied about being poor growing up because he provided very well for her. Former boyfriends of Oprah’s were paid thousands to keep quiet, but that didn’t stop their girlfriends, who revealed to Kelley about past lesbian flings. So far, Oprah has had no comment on the book. Sources say she is just waiting for the storm to pass over. In the meantime, her media friends have been loyal to her. Kelley has been having a hard time getting booked on major shows (Letterman, The View, 20/20, Leno, Good Morning America). Why would Oprah’s stepdad bite her back out? Apparently, she and Vernon had a falling out years ago, and she stopped him from writing a tell-all of his own, so he gave all his dirt to Kitty Kelley.

In other news, she will be doing a nightly show on her Oprah Winfrey Network. In this show, she will travel the world conducting interviews with notable figures from around the world. Oprah’s daytime talk show ends September 2011.

Is Vivica A Fox getting turned out by her new boyfriend? Fox, 43, has been dating Slimm, a 26-year old promoter. She just spent a ton of money on a birthday party for him. During the party, he wasn’t paying attention to her so she started spazzing out. Her youngin’ was checking out the other ladies who were there to steal her man. Auntie Viv, the number one rule of a cougar…..if you are going to date the youngin’s, you can’t let them see you sweat, especially in this day and age of the video camera…aauugghh!!! Don’t let yourself get played. Remember how it was when you dated 50 Cent. C’mon, everybody is watching you with this young man. Be careful.

Shaquille O’Neal has a warning for his ex-wife. Don’t Clown Me Or Talk About Me On Your Reality Show! Shaunie O’Neal has a reality show on VH1 called Basketball Wives. The show is funny because only one of the ladies is married. The other women are divorced or ex-jumpoffs/girlfriends/side jawns….anywho… Shaq sees his ex-wife’s show as televised revenge. For years, Shaq cheated on Shaunie, and now, he is getting his lawyers after her. In other Shaunie news, the mother of five is dating 23-year old Model Marlon Yates. Shaq is not happy about this either. He’s been leaking stories about his ex-wife. Telling anyone who’ll listen how she used to be married to one of his business partners, but dumped that husband to hook up with him. Hmmmmmmmm!

Houston! We’ve Got A Problem! Whitney Houston has resumed her European tour, but she can’t hit the high notes…. and it’s embarrassing! She looks haggard, and she sweats profusely while performing. According to Houston, despite battling an upper respiratory infection, she is in good health. This tour has turned into a disaster. She needs money because she never wrote or produced her own music. Right now, the only way she can make money is by touring. Now she could write a book, but there’s the question: will she tell the truth? Will it be an honest book about her life with Bobby Brown and the years of drug abuse?

The King children are getting along. Dexter, Martin, III and Bernice have settled their differences and are getting ready to continue the legacy of their parents. The King siblings will be doing work for The King Center with Martin, III being placed in charge. For years, the siblings were embroiled in controversy ranging from charges of theft to mishandling of funds. A judge had to step in to restore order. After a car accident nearly killed Dexter, the siblings realized life was too short to continue feuding. Plus, it was embarrassing to the family.

Another King is having his own problems. Talk Show Legend Larry King filed for divorce from his seventh wife Shawn. She filed her own papers the same day. Shawn’s been married three times before Larry. The Kings have two sons together, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9. Larry is denying published reports of an affair with his wife’s sister. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

How long will NBC keep Tiki Barber around? The former Giants football great made headlines for all the wrong reasons last week when it was revealed he dumped his wife Ginny, who is 8 months pregnant, for a 23-year old intern. Barber and Ginny had been married for 11 years with two sons, but apparently he has been carrying on with the intern for the past two years. He’s been showering her with expensive gifts, clothing, jewelry, designer handbags and trips around the world. The young intern didn’t care who knew about their relationship. She would put daily posting on Facebook wearing Barber’s jersey. Her parents thought she was the babysitter for Barber’s children, but the fact is she was having an affair with him. Barber’s career is in jeopardy. He was recently dropped from the Sunday night NFL games on NBC. He was also paid $2 million by The Today Show, but he was disappointing and dull on screen. What man turns his back on his pregnant wife? No one likes a jerk. Now NBC has a reason not to renew his contract.

Speaking of jerks, Hollywood Agent Mike Nilon has been busted for cheating. Nilon is married to Actress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon. Garcelle played “Fancy” on The Jamie Foxx Show and a D.A. on NYPD Blue. The Nilons are the parents of two-year old twin boys. When Garcelle found out her husband was cheating, she sent an email blast letting everyone know about Nilon’s five-year affair with another woman.

Actress Stacey Dash is headed to divorce court. The former Clueless star is divorcing husband number three, Emmanuel Xuereb. They had been married for two years, and she claims he beat her and has a drinking problem.

At the movies, it’s Death At A Funeral. It’s an all-star cast with Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Danny Glover and Kevin Hart. Speaking of Martin Lawrence, he’s going to start work next month on Big Momma’s House III: Like Father, Like Son. The new movie will also star Faison Love and Brandon T. Jackson. In the new installment, Lawrence recruits his son to help solve a crime. Lawrence will also be teaming up with Jamie Foxx in the Sheneneh And Wanda movie, based on their popular characters from In Living Color and the Martin show.

Get ready for the return of The Dell East. Yes, The Dell East at 33rd and Ridge Avenue! After a two-year absence, The Dell East is returning with a new season. The kickoff is July 12th. As soon as we find out the lineup, we will let you know. There will be 8 shows this season.

Trey Songz and Monica are gearing up for a summer tour. Songz also has a new reality sow debuting on BET on June 27th.

Does Tyler Perry have a gay problem? According to Writer/Columnist Rob Smith, Perry does. He claims there are no positive gay role models in any of Perry’s movies. Smith says this is probably done so that Perry’s predominately African American church-going audience won’t be offended.

Former 76er Derrick Coleman is broke. Coleman owes his creditors $4.7 million, and he has filed for bankruptcy. In 1991, Coleman was the NBA’s Rookie Of The Year, and he was a standout player for Syracuse. During the course of his NBA career, he made millions, but lost it due to bad business deals.

Singer Jaheim had a run in with the police last week. Jaheim was stopped for speeding, and police found marijuana in his car.

Actor Quinton Aaron, who played NFL Player Michael Oher in the movie The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock, has been dropped by his talent agency. They claim they couldn’t find him any work.

The legendary Pam Grier is coming to Philadelphia. The original “Foxy Brown” is telling all in her new book Foxy: My Life In Three Acts. The book comes out April 28th, and she is doing a free book signing at The African American Museum, 7th and Arch Streets, on Thursday, May 6th from 6pm until 8pm. At 60, Grier still looks fabulous, and I will be the hostess for the evening. Make plans to join us. Grier has a lot to tell, including her romances with Richard Pryor, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the late Comedian Freddie Prinze, Sr. from The 70’s show Chico And The Man.

Philly’s own Patti LaBelle is getting a new honor right here in town. LaBelle will be receiving an Honorary Doctorate Of Humane Letters at Temple University’s 123rd Commencement on May 13th.

Bobby Brown has a June court date. Brown is trying to get his child support payments reduced. Brown has no source of income, and he can’t afford to pay Kim Ward, the mother of two of his children, $5,500 a month. Back in 2007, Brown was jailed for falling behind on his child support payments by $22,000.

It’s official. Kevin Eubanks is leaving The Tonight Show. After 18 years by Leno’s side, Eubanks wants to embark on a different musical journey. Famed Music Director Rickey Minor is replacing Eubanks. Minor will be leaving his position with American Idol to take The Tonight Show gig. Minor is known for his work with the Superbowl, The Grammy Awards and The NAACP Image Awards.

In other late night news, Conan O’Brien is going with the money. FOX wouldn’t pay up, so Conan O’Brien will be doing a late night show for the TBS network. O’Brien’s show will air Mon-Thurs at 11pm followed by George Lopez. O’Brien will own the show and get $10 million a year.

Basketball Superstar Julius Erving is living the quiet life outside of Atlanta. Dr. J is happily married to Dorys Madden, and they have three children. The Ervings met in 2003, and have been married for two years.

Paula Deen is back with a new book about southern flair. Savannah Style is a southern style decorating book. Deen co-wrote the book with her creative director and personal assistant, Brandon Branch. Deen says she came up with the idea for the book because she wants people to dare to be different with their decorating.

Neicy Nash is dancing up a storm on Dancing With The Stars. She’s also in talks to host her own daytime talk show. In the meantime, she’s been busy with her Clean House TV show and her work on The Insider. In other Dancing With The Stars news, is Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson dating his dance partner Cheryl Burke. NO! It’s just publicity. When he finishes up Dancing With The Stars, he will start work on his VH1 dating reality show. 85 women are already lined up to date him. He is going to be sooooo tired once he starts up football season with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jennifer Hudson says she has not forgotten about her singing career. Hudson is currently the spokesperson for Weight Watchers. She went from a size 14 to a size 4. She’s also getting ready to start work on a movie based on the life of Winnie Mandela. Hudson says in between, she will be working on a new album that she says will be ready by the fall.

Congrats to 6ABC News Anchor Monica Malpass. Her twin boys, Hunter and Zeke, arrived earlier this week. The twins join their ten-year old big brother Jake. Congrats Monica!

Gabby Sidebe is headed to SNL as host. The star of Precious is hosting the show on April 24th. In other Gabby news, her mom, Alice Tan Ridley, has been chosen to compete this summer on America’s Got Talent. Ridley is a subway singer who is well known in the New York area.

The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin and The King Of Pop Michael Jackson are going to be the new inductees into the Apollo Theatre Hall Of Fame. The ceremony takes place June 14th. Past inductees include Patti LaBelle, Quincy Jones and Ella Fitzgerald. Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony are also going to be honored that night with a humanitarian award.

Ruben Studdard is gearing up for a summer tour with former Idol Contestant Clay Aiken. When the two competed on American Idol, Studdard won the competition. They will be performing in Lancaster on August 8th. In other Idol news, the charity show Idol Gives Back will air on April 21st. Alicia Keys will be one of the performers. So far, Idol’s charity has raised over $140 million.

Tyler Perry is coming to Philadelphia April 28th-May 2nd with his new stage production Madea’s Big Happy Family at the Liacouras Center, Broad and Montgomery. There are still tickets available, and Tyler wants to see you there. He just added the Wednesday show. The production will have video screens to support the play so everyone will have a great seat. Tyler’s new movie, Why Did I Get Married Too, is in theatres. The movie stars Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal, Malik Yoba and Perry himself. Tyler’s next project is an adaptation of the 1975 play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf. The play was about love, abandonment and rape. Rumored cast members include Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington and Macy Gray. Filming starts in June, and the movie is scheduled to be in theatres next January.

It’s a boy for Actress Paula Patton and Singer Robin Thicke. They are the proud parents of Julian, who was born on Tuesday night. Check out Patton on the new issue of Ebony magazine. She looks amazing with two beautiful photos showing her pregnant.

Brian McKnight won’t talk about his secret child. Yes, secret child! McKnight is paying child support for his one-year old son, Evan Brian McKnight. Lil’ Evan’s momma wants more money, so she’s gone public with their love child. McKnight has two older children from a previous marriage, and he just got engaged to another woman. Sources say she is mad at McKnight for dumping her to marry another woman.

What a Jerk! Former Football Star Tiki Barber is showing just how much of a jerk he is. Barber has left his pregnant wife of 11 years for a 23-year old blonde intern. Barber has two sons with his wife Ginny. The kids are ages six and seven, and now Ginny is 8 months pregnant with twins. How could he do this to her? In a statement, Barber said the decision was painful. I wonder how he thinks this will affect his public image. YEAH, TIKI THE JERK!

The Jackson family came out in full force for the preliminary hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray. Dr. Murray was the personal physician of Michael Jackson at the time of his death. Dr. Murray admitted giving Jackson the anesthesia medicine propofol that gave Jackson a heart attack. Dr. Murray insists he did nothing wrong, and his defense is claiming that Jackson killed himself. Dr. Murray is fighting to keep his medical license so he can make a living. The Jackson family wants to see justice. They feel Dr. Murray murdered Michael Jackson.

Erykah Badu has to pay up for her nude publicity stunt. In her new video for her song Window Seat, Badu strips off her clothes in the downtown plaza where JFK was assassinated. Badu says the video and message has gotten lost in the controversy. She has to pay a $500 fine.

Our get well wishes go out to Singer Whitney Houston. Houston had to postpone dates on her European tour as she battles an upper respiratory infection.

Nick Cannon says he is not Mr. Mariah Carey. Cannon is featured on the cover of Jet magazine, and he talks about his life with Mariah Carey. He also opens up about his business life (becoming a millionaire at the age of 15). Cannon is the host of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and he is the CEO of his own multi-media company, which handles his radio and TV ventures.

Jennifer Hudson reveals how she went from a size 14 to a size 4 in her new commercials for Weight Watchers. She looks amazing. She joined the program right after she gave birth to her son, and she says it took six months. Later this spring, Hudson is headed to South Africa to star in a move based on the life of Winnie Mandela.

Kel Mitchell, from the popular kids show Kenan And Kel, is broke. Mitchell had to file for bankruptcy. The former Good Burger star is in debt to the tune of $1.7 million. In court statements, he claimed to only own an SUV and clothes. His former partner Kenan Thompson is doing much better. Thompson is currently one of the cast members of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Speaking of Saturday Night Live, Gabby Sidebe is headed to SNL as host. The star of Precious is hosting the show on April 24th. In other Gabby news, her mom, Alice Tan Ridley, has been chosen to compete this summer on America’s Got Talent. Ridley is a subway singer who is well known in the New York area.

Patti LaBelle has introduced her new line of bedding at Macy’s. I love good bedding, and Ms. Patti has a great collection and excellent colors. LaBelle also has a line of seasonings and sauces, and you can check them out at Shoprite supermarkets.

The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin and The King Of Pop Michael Jackson are going to be the new inductees into the Apollo Theatre Hall Of Fame. The ceremony takes place June 14th. Past inductees include Patti LaBelle, Quincy Jones and Ella Fitzgerald. Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony are also going to be honored that night with a humanitarian award.

Ruben Studdard is gearing up for a summer tour with former Idol Contestant Clay Aiken. When the two competed on American Idol, Studdard won the competition. They will be performing in Lancaster on August 8th. In other Idol news, the charity show Idol Gives Back will air on April 21st. Alicia Keys will be one of the performers. So far, Idol’s charity has raised over $140 million. The show needs a boost. For the first time ever, Dancing With The Stars beat Idol in the ratings by a couple million viewers. Does American Idol still have the same sizzle? I find that I’m just not interested this season. Simon looks bored, and as much as I love Ellen DeGeneres, she isn’t adding anything to the show.

The radio world lost a legend this past week with the passing of Reggie Bryant. Bryant was a radio host for WHAT-AM and for WURD-AM. He was also one of the founding members of the Philadelphia Association Of Black Journalists. Bryant was bold and outspoken, and he didn’t mind ruffling feathers. His voice will be missed.

Services have been announced for another late Philadelphia media legend. Malcolm Poindexter, alumnus of CBS 3 and The Philadelphia Tribune, will have a celebration of life service on Friday, April 16th with a 1pm musical tribute followed by the memorial. The service will take place at Deliverance Evangelistic Church, 2001 West Lehigh Avenue.

Easter 2010

Well this year was me and Bre's first Easter since the changes in the family structure. But hey! We made the best of it and she enjoyed herself .

We started our festivities off on Saturday at a egg hunt put on by my Sorors and Frat here at a local park that is done annually. It was really fun. I actually for the first time had possession of 4 little girls under my responsibility at once. Ask me what I was thinking cause still I really don't know! LOL! No, seriously, I thought it would be fun...Bre was sooo happy that her cousins accompanied her to the egg hunt. The girls all had a good time and it was totally worth it! Beyond a shadow of a doubt! Auntie Keisha & Jaylen met us at the park and Bre was even MORE excited!

Somebody had a good time...we weren't but 10 minutes away from the house! LOL!

Okay...so...we had to dye eggs and leave them for the Easter Bunny...that was always fun! In the meantime, the greens were cooking and it was smelling real good up in there! THANK GOD for my neighbor friend, cause mommy didn't have NO VINEGAR! I have never asked my neighbor for anything...you know I don't want to be that neighbor that always has to "borrow some sugar!" But it was all good, she was really cool about it!

Woke up and found her Easter basket...that was a real good trick to get her out of the bed so we can get to church! Once she saw her dress she was even more motivated!

A Little Somethin' Somethin' for the Soul...

I hope I don’t offend anyone with this but I just wanted to share a little inspiration that was shared by one of my girlfreinds this morning. I read it and it spoke to me so I wanted to share. Everyone have a GREAT day!

Whatever you focus on, you make it more real; you make it large; you cause it to consume you. So what have you set your sights on; what are you focused on; how is your vision today? What you see, is what you get!

When you look around at your situations; your family; your community and your city, what do you see? Do you see destruction and brokenness; do you see failure and curses; do you see hopelessness and lack; do you see illness and anger? What you see, is what you get. But if you begin to acknowledge that there are problems, and decide to focus your sight on the solution, you begin to see things differently. Instead of seeing failure, you see success, and things will begin to change. If you acknowledge broken relationships, but focus on mending the relationships, then things will begin to change. If you acknowledge illness, but focus on healing, things will begin to change. What you see, is what you get!

So today, you can acknowledge your issues, but focus on what God says about your situation; focus on what God is telling you to do; and focus on what God said He will do. Don’t focus your attention on the issues, just acknowledge them. Don’t just acknowledge the solution; focus on them…..Don’t focus your attention on the enemy; just acknowledge that you have one. Don’t just acknowledge that you have a deliverer and Savior, focus on Him!

I choose to focus on the way out…because what I focus on, determines where I end up. What you see, is what you get!

Guest Designer for a Month!

Good Evening my friends!

I do have some good news to share! I was asked to be a Guest Designer for Platinum Scraps.
These are a very talented group of ladies and I am honored to be a part of their team for this month!

Platinum Scraps is a group of ladies who initially met on a Cricut Message board and had a vision! Their goal is to inspire others and most of all have fun! Make sure you stop by and visit their blog as they always have beautiful projects and often give out some Blog Candy! Yumm-O!

The first project was a free for all and I was asked to use the new line of American Crafts, Blue Skies. This paper was donated by one of their sponsors YSS (Your Scrapbookstash). Very cool online store by the way! (Check out the store....promise to not get in trouble though!)

This is what I came up with!
I started on a clean slate of canvas, painted with some pink and sprayed a little Glimmer Mist on there. I was inspired by something similar a year or so ago from one of the magazines. I thought this would be a pretty cool project to make for Miss Brenna's room. It would be perfect as she is enjoying singing her ABC's. =)

I found a lot of little odd ends of embellishments that I had just hanging around, and found a few pics of her and put them just randomly on the canvas.

Below you will find some other other little creations I have made within the past few months...
They were really easy and fun of course.

Below are canvas pieces, basically painted with black paint, and used the same color scheme on all 3 (black green and white) with other cute little embellishments attempting to make it POP! These I did hang on my wall in my living room, the perfect accent piece! Oh and the pics were printed black and white...

More goodies....these were regular plain ole' coasters found in a $1 section at a crafts store. I basically covered with a pic and then covered with Mod Podge (sp?). Anyhow, just make sure you have a copy of the photo somewhere before you do this project. =)

To be honest....these coasters were gifts I received in my stocking at work for my Secret Santa. I immediately looked at them and though: "ALTER ME!!!" So I listened to my inner soul and followed directions! I altered!

Hello my Blogger friends and to the unfriends!

I am really irritated as to why I get junk comments! Just random off the wall advertisements...does anyone know why? Is it because my blog appeared to be abandonned?

Its been lookin a little abandoned for many reasons that I wont even bore you with.
Lets just say, I am SO very happy and blessed to be alive..and breath another day.

Last Friday I lost a great great uncle that I loved dearly and the same day, learned of my coworkers death due to a fatal crash on the 15fwy (known as the fwy that gets you to Vegas).
Anyhow....it just reminds me suddenly we can be here one minute and gone the next.

Yesterday was a great day in church...we had a visiting pastor from Haiti and a few other clergy men attended with him, it was moving and powerful.

It is sad..because its funny how the media chooses to report only the casualties, the sad things, the ruins. But what we aren't seeing is the unity that this country has yet after this devastating earthquake. Do you know the Haitians attend church everyday....their Wednesday is like our Sunday. The pastor that was visiting, says crowds just come from nowhere...big crowds. They are praising and worshiping from sun up to sun down...LITERALLY! They are dancing in the street as if nothing ever happened. They are so RICH with hope its ridiculous...it makes me just say, wow.

My bible is in car but I will bring it in the house tomorrow...to share some words he shared with us...very strong and powerful.

Anyway, just wanted to say hey to all my cyber friends, let you all know I am still breathing.
I have neglected you and I am sorry! Life changes man...I tell you!

All I can do is try harder!

The Park & 31 Flavors..

Man...it seems like just yesterday Bre was barely able to climb the stairs at the playground and she was able to go down the slide with assistance. Also, when she was given ice cream and ended up everywhere...but now her moves obviously are way more controlled.

Ron Isley is out of jail and ready to go to work. Isley did close to three years in federal prison for tax evasion, but now he is ready to go on tour. Saturday, May 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, it’s Ron and The Isley Brothers, The Whispers and Teena Marie. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 29th at all Ticketmaster locations or by calling 215-336-2000.Sources say Golfer Tiger Woods is getting the help he needs.

Woods is currently doing a stint at a rehab clinic in Mississippi. Before he returns to golfing or the public, he is seeking help for his addiction. Still no word on whether his wife will take him back after he humiliated her with various women.

Former Talk Show Host Montel Williams is being labeled a deadbeat dad. Williams’ children by his ex-wife Grace say even though their dad pays child support ($19,000 a month), he gives them no emotional support. The kids, who are now teenagers, claim they have seen their famous dad four times in five years. They say they have tried therapy, but because their dad is mad at their mom, he refuses to have anything to do with them.

Will the Jackson brothers return to the A&E network? Jermaine, Jackie, Marlon and Tito have been silent on whether or not they will return. The A&E network wants the brothers back. Maybe they are holding out for more money. I thought the show was funny as heck. The dynamics between the brothers was interesting.

He may not be going to Hollywood, but General Larry Platt has a hit on his hands with Pants On The Ground. The 63-year old civil rights veteran appeared on American Idol during the Atlanta auditions, and he became an overnight sensation. The song, Pants On The Ground, is infectious and truthful. Hopefully, General Platt will have a fruitful fifteen minutes of fame. Now speaking of American Idol, the rumors are swirling about who is going to take Simon Cowell’s place when he leaves at the end of the season.

Producer Rodney Jerkins, who has worked with Brandy, Beyonce and J-Lo, has had his name pop up, and LaToya Jackson is inquiring about the job. LaToya says she would be perfect, and if producers hire her, they would get the REAL LaToya Jackson.

The drama surrounding the love life of 72-year old Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman continues. Freeman has been escorting his manager to his public events portraying her as his latest squeeze. But, Freeman, who is still married to his long suffering wife Myrna, has been seeing his 27-year old step-granddaughter. The young woman, E’Dena Hines, is the granddaughter of his first wife, and Freeman helped raise her since she was ten. Freeman’s current and soon to be ex-wife has put him on blast because of his scandalous behavior. Freeman has been warned to cool it because it could hurt his chances of getting nominated for another Oscar for his role in Invictus. Freeman is not letting anything stop him, including an injured hand that he hurt during a car crash with a jump off.

Book Of Eli Star Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta were in town a couple of days ago enjoying the sites, including the African American Museum at 7th and Arch. The Washingtons have been spending a lot of time on the east coast. They have two sons in school in the area, and Denzel is about to star in the Broadway production of Fences, which kicks off in April.

She’s funny, talented, the host of her own late night talk show and now a Golden Globe winner, but when will she shave her legs. Mo’Nique looked stunning, and she was gracious accepting her award for best supporting actress in the movie Precious. But, the fashion critics were all over her when she lifted her dress and revealed her hairy legs. Mo’Nique has always walked to the beat of her own drum, but the hairy legs are a distraction. Up next for Mo’: will her name be called around Academy Awards time? The nominees will be announced on February 2nd, Groundhogs’ Day. The 82nd Annual Academy Awards air March 7th on ABC.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards air January 31st on CBS. Beyonce and Maxwell are scheduled to perform. One of the highlights of the evening will be the tribute to Michael Jackson featuring Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Smokey Robinson. The tribute will be in 3-D and various Target stores will be giving away the 3-D glasses.

The Hope For Haiti Telethon is happening on Friday, January 22nd. Actor George Clooney is producing the event, and he will be live from Los Angeles. Wyclef Jean will be live from New York, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper will be live from Haiti. Scheduled performers for the evening include Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend and a possible Fugees reunion with Wyclef, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel. The show will air starting at 8pm on all the major networks and cable stations.

HOW TO POOP AT WORK

We've all been there but don't like to admit it. As much as we try to convince ourselves otherwise, the WORKPOOP is inevitable. For those who hate pooping at work, following is the Survival Guide for having a dump at work.

CROP DUSTING : When farting, you walk briskly around the office so the smell is not in your area and everyone else gets a whiff but doesn't know where it came from. Be careful when you do this. Do not stop until the full farthas been expelled. Walk an extra 30 feet to make sure the smell has left your pants.

FLY BY : This is the act of scouting out a bathroom before pooping. Walk in and check for other poopers. If there are others in the bathroom, leave and come back again. Be careful not to become a

FREQUENT FLYER. People may become suspicious if they catch you constantly going into the bathroom.

ESCAPEE: This is a fart that slips out while taking a leak at the urinal or forcing a poop in a stall. This is usually accompanied by a sudden wave of embarrassment. If you release an escapee, do not acknowledge it. Pretend it did not happen. If you are standing next to the farter in the urinal, pretend you did not hear it. No one likes an escapee. It is uncomfortable for all involved. Making a joke or laughing makes both parties feel uneasy.

JAILBREAK : When forcing a poop, several farts slip out at a machine gun pace. This is usually a side effect of diarrhea or a hangover. If this should happen, do not panic. Remain in the stall until everyone has left the bathroom to spare everyone the awkwardness of what just occurred.

COURTESY FLUSH : The act of flushing the toilet the instant the poop hits the water. This reduces the amount of airtime the poop has to stink up the bathroom. This can help you avoid being caught doing the WALK OF SHAME.

WALK OF SHAME : Walking from the stall, to the sink, to the door after you have just stunk the bathroom. This can be a very uncomfortable moment if someone walks in and busts you. As with farts, it is best to pretend that the smell does not exist. This very uncomfortable walk can be avoided with the use of the COURTESY FLUSH.

OUT OF THE CLOSET POOPER : This is a colleague who poops at work and is damn proud of it. You will often see an Out Of The Closet Pooper enter the bathroom with a newspaper or magazine under his or her arm. Always look around the office for the Out Of The Closet Pooper before entering the bathroom.

THE POOPING FRIENDS NETWORK (P.F.N) : A group of co-workers who band together to ensure emergency pooping goes off without incident. This group can help you to monitor the whereabouts of Out Of The Closet Poopers, and identify SAFE HAVENS.

SAFE HAVENS : A Safe Haven is a seldom-used bathroom somewhere in the building where you can least expect visitors. Try floors that are predominantly of the opposite sex. This will reduce the odds of a pooper of your sex entering the bathroom.

TURD BURGLAR : This is someone who does not realize that you are in the stall and tries to force the door open. This is one of the most shocking and vulnerable moments that can occur when taking a poop at work If this occurs, remain in the stall until the Turd Burglar leaves. This way you will avoid all uncomfortable eye contact.

CAMO-COUGH : A phony cough that alerts all new entrants into the bathroom that you are in a stall is called a Camo-Cough. This can be used to cover-up a WATERMELON, or to alert potential Turd Burglars. The Camo-Coughis very effective when used in conjunction with an ASTAIRE.

ASTAIRE : An Astaire is a subtle toe-tap that is used to alert potential Turd Burglars that you are occupying a stall. This will remove all doubt that the stall is occupied. If you hear an Astaire, leave the bathroom immediately so the pooper can poop in peace.

WATERMELON : A watermelon is a big poop that creates a loud splash when hitting the toilet water. This is also an embarrassing incident. If you feel a Watermelon coming on, create a diversion. See CAMO-COUGH.

HAVANA OMELET : A case of diarrhea that creates a series of loud splashes in the toilet water. Often accompanied by an Escapee. Try using a Camo-Cough with an Astaire.

UNCLE TODD : An Uncle Todd is a bathroom user who seems to linger around forever. This person could spend extended lengths of time in front of the mirror or sitting on the pot. An Uncle Todd makes it difficult to relax while on the crapper, as you should always wait to poop when the bathroom is empty.

This benefits you as well as other bathroom attendees.

During conversation with my dear friend Janice, we were discussing that our heavenly Father spoke to her in her dream, woke her up and directed her to the book of Job. Many people don't believe the hype when someone says they were spoken to. You don't have to believe it, thats up to you. But anyhow..she forwarded this information to me and thought I would share with you. You may be able to apply it to yourself. Is this you?

Sometimes, well no...Im lying...ALOT of times we may want to question God and the trials he puts us through. We need to understand that it is HIS plan and not ours. Some people still don't understand, some never will. If you ever question him...you may wanna think twice.

Read this...and think about it...

Practical Application: The Book of Job reminds us that there is a "cosmic conflict" going on the behind the scenes that we usually know nothing about. Often we wonder why God allows something, and we question or doubt God's goodness, without seeing the full picture. The Book of Job teaches us to trust God under all circumstances. We must trust God, not only WHEN we do not understand, but BECAUSE we do not understand. The Psalmist tells us “As for God, His way is perfect” (Psalm 18:30). If God’s ways are “perfect,” then we can trust that whatever He does—and whatever He allows—is also perfect. This may not seem possible to us, but our minds are not God’s mind. It is true that we can’t expect to understand His mind perfectly, as He reminds us “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9). Nevertheless, our responsibility to God is to obey Him, to trust Him and to submit to His will, whether we understand it or not.

Last night we had a little girls night at my house, some cousins and some really good friends came through. I felt like a chef yesterday... =) I started off with breakfast for a really good friend.. Cajun Turkey and Cheese Omelets were off the chain! Cooked lots of food for my girls night...we had: Spaghetti Casserole, Chicken Enchiladas & Cheese Enchiladas (specially made for my girl Azeb), meatballs and salad. There was a host of other items...dips, veggies, etc.

Cousin Monique made some pretty good "Pink Panties" with a twist. I forget what she calls the drink with the twist...it was good though!!! I think everyone agreed and thats real! Thanks cousin! Here are a few pics from last night...

What I saw was BEAUTIFUL!!!! This view is from my parking lot at home...heading North on Milliken looks even better! Yes, I am making a big deal because I am in Southern Cali...and its rare we get to see things like this! So yeah...it was nice seeing this view first thing this morning!

Cousin Monique spent the night which was great! She hung around to especially see little Miss Breanna do her 1st gymnastics class. She helped take some photos which was cool.

So everyone's question is how did she do? Wellllll.....my first instinct was to ask if I could get my money back! The little girl pretty much had her own agenda. She wouldn't stand up, she had jelly legs, she wouldn't pay attention and wouldn't even look at her coach.

My cousin told me I did a very good job at my gymnastics class...lol. Ima' get my moneys worth that's for sure! LOL! Bre's trippin! She better get with it!

After her gym class...I met up with Rochelle, Alondra, Marie and Melissa for some scrappin! It was great. We went to our new location in Mira Loma that Rochelle hooked up for us. Thanks Rochelle! We had a good time as usual!

We begin with the loss of Philly’s own “TP.” Teddy Pendergrass has passed away at the age of 58. A life-long resident of the city and an international sensation, Teddy came to prominence as the lead singer of Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes. They signed with Gamble and Huff on Philadelphia International Records in 1971. They had a string of hits with If You Don’t Know Me By Now, The Love I Lost, Bad Luck and Wake Up Everybody. Pendergrass left the Bluenotes and went on to a solo career with the hits Love TKO, Come Go With Me and Close The Door. Although a 1982 car crash left Pendergrass paralyzed, he continued recording and had a hits with You’re My Choice Tonight, Joy and Hold Me, a hit duet with Whitney Houston. In the last years of his life, Pendergrass created The Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, a non-profit advocacy organization for those living with spinal cord injuries. Pendergrass’ record-breaking album sales and concerts set the standard for most of today’s hottest artists. The world will miss the legendary “Teddy Bear.”

There are a lot of changes in TV land. Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol for his own show, The X-Factor. The FOX network offered him millions to do both shows, but Cowell says he wants to do his own thing. The buzz is on ex-Idol Judge Paula Abdul. Will she be joining Cowell on his new show X-Factor, which debuts in 2011?

David Hasselhoff is out as judge on America’s Got Talent. His drinking escapades got to be too much for the producers. He is being replaced by Howie Mandel from Deal Or No Deal.

It looks like Conan O’Brien is going to take the money and run. The fallout continues from The Tonight Show debacle. Jay Leno will return to his former time slot after the Winter Olympics. O’Brien feels betrayed, and is talking of leaving the network. Is there a FOX in his future? Here is what I want to know, Leno had excellent rating, so why did they move him to 10pm? Why would they make him leave his show to give it to someone else? O’Brien’s ratings were not as good as Leno’s. David Letterman is somewhere laughing his behind off.

The Michael Jackson death investigation has ended. The case has gone to the D.A.’s office. Sources say Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, will likely face some kind of criminal charge. The case took so long because it was so complicated. Murray didn’t break any laws, but he was negligent while administering the propofol, which caused Jackson’s death. He could face involuntary manslaughter charges.

Who robbed Usher? The superstar says he was robbed of a million dollars worth of goodies that were stolen from his SUV. Usher says he was holiday shopping when someone broke into his car and stole jewelry, furs, clothing and laptops. Who carries this kind of stuff in their cars? Usher says he did have insurance.

Get ready for Jill Scott. The new mommy is back with a vengeance in 2010. Check out her new column in the February issue of Essence magazine. She will be starring in the Lifetime movie Sins Of The Mother on February 7th. Her new Tyler Perry movie with Janet Jackson, Why Did I Get Married Too, opens in theatres April 2nd. She’ll also be playing the voice of “Storm” in the new BET animated series Black Panther. She has a new album, Light Of The Sun, coming out this summer, and she’ll touring on the Lilith Fair concert series with Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu.

Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman is trying to hide his messy love life. The 72-year old has been put on blast by his soon to be ex-wife for dating his 27-year old step-granddaughter. She’s a young woman he never adopted, but has raised since she was 10. Over the past couple of years, skeletons have come out of Morgan’s closet with jumpoffs, mistresses, car crashes and now the step-granddaughter. The whole situation is messy, and Freeman has been asked to do something about it. He is up for a slew of awards for his role as Nelson Mandela in the movie Invictus, and his controversial love life is causing too much scandal. At future events, look for Freeman to have as his companion, his manager, a tall blonde who is just going along with the game. Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

Cole got a ten-carat engagement ring over the holiday, and they are expecting their first child in early spring. Cole has gone out of her way to distance herself from her controversial family. Her mom and sister are the stars of The Frankie And Neff Show on BET. Cole is embarking on a new chapter of her life, and she doesn’t want the drama associated with them. In a press release, she has asked them to not make comments on her life because they are not involved in it.

Is some color coming to Saturday Night Live? The long running sketch comedy show has come under fire for their lack of African American cast members. I hear Chris Rock’s brother Tony is being looked at as well as Comedienne Debra Wilson who used to star on Mad TV.

The new issue of Ebony magazine features Kimora Lee Simmons and her hubby, Actor Djimon Hounsou. Their family is featured on the cover in a beautiful spread. Meanwhile, Essence magazine is catching heat for their latest cover photo choice. New Orleans Saints’ Reggie Bush is on the cover. He is also the boyfriend of TV Personality Kim Kardashian. Not only did they use a photo from 2006, but they put a man on the cover who is not known for dating women of color. The issue celebrates love and relationship, and a lot of people feel they should have made a better decision regarding the cover choice. Hope it doesn’t hurt sales.

Check out Beyonce on the new issue of Allure magazine. Beyonce is promoting her new fragrance Heat. She is also taking a much needed break. In the spring, Beyonce says she’ll step away from the spotlight for six months to live life.

Congrats to 6ABC News Anchor Monica Malpass, who is expecting twins this coming June. Malpass anchors the 5pm news with Rick Williams, and hosts the Sunday morning political show Inside Story. The BET network presents The Michael Vick Project. It’s an eight-part series that will focus on the embattled football star who rejoined the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles. The series will focus on his life after the dog fighting scandal that almost ruined his career.

Basketball Star Jayson Williams has pleaded guilty to shooting his limo driver. Williams will serve at least 18 months in prison for the 2002 Valentine’s Day cover up and accidental shooting of his limo driver. Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. During the height of his career with the Sixers and Nets, he signed an $86 million contract with the NBA. Since the shooting, his life has been on a downward spiral. Just two weeks ago, he was arrested for drunk driving after crashing his car into a tree.

Will Celebrity Apprentice help this funny man get out of debt? Actor/Comedian Sinbad is having serious financial problems, and he is going to be a part of the new season of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. The show will also feature Holly Robinson Peete, and kicks off March 14th on NBC.

Now that her talk show is going off the air is Tyra Banks going to embrace motherhood. Sources say the former supermodel is happy with her love life, and she has always wanted to be a mom.

Actress Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) has been named the new spokesperson for Avon Cosmetics. Saldana will be joining Oscar Winning Actresses Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Hudson as faces for the cosmetics line.

Congrats to Educator/Author Salome Thomas-El. Principal El is a contributor to The Dr. Oz Show seen locally at 9am on CBS3. As a part of Core Team Oz, he is teaching people how to live better inside and out. People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON or a LIFETIME. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season .

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."2

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

They Said it Was Coming...

Well the "Big Storm" is finally here! It is raining as we speak...I hear the rain over Little Bill (cartoon on Nick Jr.). I am soo glad it finally got here, cuz I was starting to be a little embarrassed of my filthy car. I refused to wash it though since the rain was coming through!
Listening to the rain....my goodness....simple things like this we seem to take advantage of. Me and my mom were in the car today speaking about the tragedies taking place in Haiti. My mom said, "I am so glad we have what we have here in our world." I agreed and we continued to discuss how we complain about alot about our world, what we have and what we don't have. I proceeded to tell her how sad it is that we take SO many things for granted here...

Anyway...the reason I mentioned this was because WE tend to take things for granted. Simple things like being able to even listen to the sweet sound of rain...

Anyway...my weekend was good.
Saturday me and Alondra drove to the OC to the expo, it was ok. We got a little moded, thought we were gonna scrap but the crop was sold out. I always buy my tickets online, Alondra says she has never had a problem buying at the door. SO...I was like ok, I will buy at the door. NOT! Wasn't happening! We met sister Rochelle up there and the 3 of us hung out in the OC. We had lunch at some spot...it was not the business...I actually asked for my money back. But we had a good time in there, I think we spent like 3 hours in there. We had some serious girl talk.

While having the girl talk time, I thought to myself! Hmph! Girls night! Friday night, my house, beverages, food, good music and most of all good company! Can't wait!

This morning woke up for church it was great as usual. After church I had to face my mountain of laundry...6 loads...just made no sense..its just me and Bre! LOL! Oh well...it got done! Thank God mommy lets me come over and hook it up!

After laundry was done, we went out to eat, me, mommy and Bre. We had a good dinner, nice and full.

Tomorrow I am off in honor of the great MLK....hopefully I can catch the parade on TV in the morning. Missing the parade we use to have in the hood. What is the real reason it was removed? Sucks...

Teddy Riley says he loves his daughters. They will always be his little girls, but they will not disrespect him, especially in his own house. Riley faces a court hearing later this month for assaulting his daughters, who he says attacked him first. Riley’s daughters, ages 18 and 21, fought their father, and he whipped their behinds and kicked them out of his house. Riley says he had to fight his daughters off of him. So what started the fight? Riley, 43, has a 22-year old girlfriend, and his daughters don’t like her. Riley is best known for his work with Guy and Blackstreet, being a top producer in the new jack swing era and his work with Michael Jackson.

Mariah Carey is still trying to explain her bizarre behavior at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Carey, minus hubby Nick Cannon, appeared tipsy and confused when she went to accept her award for Breakthrough Actress for her role in the movie Precious. Stunned on lookers were shocked by Carey’s behavior. This may explain why Carey is often seen in the grips of her husband Nick Cannon. Cannon couldn’t be there with his wife because he is doing a radio show in New York. After this incident, she may need him to be with her at all times.

Boyz II Men are gearing up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony. Yes, it’s been 20 years for Nate, Shawn and Wanya. I hear Mike McCrary, who left the group few years ago, may be back in the fold for the reunion if it can be worked out. The guys are currency celebrating the release of their new CD, Love, and they are also fighting off controversies. Shawn “Slim” Stockman is being accused of being a polygamist. Stockman is an Israelite, and sources say they are allowed to have seven wives under their religion. Well one lady, a swimsuit model, claims she was in a spiritual marriage with Stockman for nine years. Stockman’s wife, who he has been with for nine years, had no idea this was going on, but, according to the swimsuit model, his other women around the world did. The swimsuit model claims she had to leave Stockman when she found out about the other women. She didn’t mind the wife, but the other women… no way! I know… I know….. WTH! At press time, there was no word from Stockman or his wife, who now knows everything.

All is well between Mary J. Blige and her husband Kendu. After she went upside his head at her album release party, he came to his senses. No more flirting within 20 feet of his wife Cause Mary Don’t Play That! Mary and her hubby were recently spotted hand in hand smiling at a recent Lakers game.

WDAS morning man Steve Harvey is back as the host of the 10th Annual BET Celebration Of Gospel. The show airs this Sunday, the 10th at 8pm on BET.

Regina King returns to TV in the cop drama Southland. The show originally aired on NBC, but now has a new home. The show now airs Tuesday nights at 10pm on the TNT network. King is best known for her roles in the movies Ray, Poetic Justice, Jerry Maguire and the TV show 227, where she played “Brenda.” King now plays “Detective Lydia Kirkland” in Southland. , a no-nonsense detective who is trying to find a balance in her life.

The February issue of Essence magazine is a celebration of sexy black men. Football Star Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints is on the cover. The issue deals with black men, love and relationships. Idris Elba, Lance Gross and LL Cool J are some of the men featured representing sports, music and Hollywood. This issue also highlights Singer/Actress Jill Scott, who’s debuting her new column.

Disgraced Golfer Tiger Woods is on the cover of Vanity Fair. In a photo that was taken in 2006, it shows Woods topless and raw. In the interview, he appears to be obsessed with black men, making various jokes about black men and their body parts. Woods never refers to himself as black it’s always Calabanasian. I know….. very confusing.

Supermodel Beverly Johnson is being sued by an ex-boyfriend. He claims he was a kept man, and she took care of him. Now that the relationship is over, he still wants the money. He is suing her for $5 million. Johnson is known as one of the first black supermodels, and she has her successful line of wigs and hairpieces.

Williams is slowly killing himself.

We remember Eunice Johnson, who passed away this week at the age of 93. Johnson was the wife of publishing giant and Ebony/Jet Founder John H. Johnson, who passed in 2005. He created the Johnson Publishing Company, whose principal publication, Ebony magazine, celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. Mrs. Johnson actually suggested the name Ebony for the magazine. In 1961, she created The Ebony Fashion Fair. As producer and director, Mrs. Johnson built the event into the world’s largest traveling fashion show, which eventually gave starts to many performers including Oscar Nominee Diahann Carroll and the original “John Shaft,” Richard Roundtree. The Ebony Fashion Fair also raised over $50 million for charities, including the United Negro College Fund.

Morgan Freeman is the new voice of the CBS Evening News With Katie Couric. Oscar Winner Freeman, whose latest movie is Invictus, started the voiceovers this week for the network. He replaces legendary Broadcaster Walter Cronkite, who was the voice for many years before he died last year.

February 8th is the long awaited date for the new album from Sade. Soldier Of Love is her latest project. She is backed by her longtime band Sweetback. She wrote most of the songs on the album which deals with lost love. I hear Maxwell is doing a duet with her. At 50, Sade looks fabulous. Let’s hope she tours with this project.

Andre Leon Talley is headed to America’s Next Top Model. The fashionista extraordinaire is the editor-at-large for Vogue magazine. Talley will serve as the 4th judge.

Philadelphia’s own Bill Cosby will be the 2010 recipient of the Marian Anderson Award. The Marian Anderson Award is an honor that salutes artists whose leadership benefits society. The awards ceremony takes place April 6th at the Kimmel Center, Broad & Spruce. Past winners include Danny Glover, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier and Quincy Jones.The new version of the Karate Kid hits theatres next summer with Jaden Smith, Taraji P. Okay...well, sheesh...I mean I really let my blog go!

2009 was just NOT THE BUSINESS!!! So many things happened, life changing events, some good and some definitely not so good. But I do recall God saying that he will never give me nothing I can't handle!

So with that...today is a new day! It is January 1st, 2010 baby!

Today I started my day off in the best way possible! First thanking the Lord for another day, another year! Second...WhoGivesaScrap had their first crop of the year! It was great! Tons of food, and oh my gosh! The laughs and jokes! Some ladies finally were able to put faces with screen names...some ladies were new and met some of us for the first time!

We had a good time!

Resolutions...my dad asked me last night what my resolutions were. I told him I didn't make any. Why? Because most the time I don't accomplish what I have set out to accomplish. What I will be doin is just taking one day at a time.

But thinking of it more, I do need to set some personal goals. Yeah...I guess they can be resolutions. Like to hear them? Here they go!

Continue to grow closer to God!
Decrease my debt and increase my savings! Spiritually & Financially!
Create some saving method for possibly buying a new house, although me and Bre are pretty content in our new place. Lovin Rancho!
Tone up my arms...bye bye Oprah arm!!!...tone my legs too!
Spend more time with Bre, more quality time. She has gymnastics I signed her up for beginning in mid month so that should be fun!
Join a book club
Try to not let the things I cannot change bother me.

Okay...so there you have it. I am positive I can accomplish those!

I will also attempt to give a better effort in updating my blog. Maybe this will be the year I can print up all my post and make something out of it! So I will try my best to post frequently. If it is very short...don't trip. If it is lengthy...print it and take it to the toilet!

I had soooo much food, sugar and laughs I HONESTLY think I blacked out for a minute. It was quite scary..all the sudden I got dizzy and my head started to spin. I had to close my eyes..and pray I didn't have to cut my crop time short and someone elses cuz they would have had to leave and take me to the hospital! But I snapped out of it!

Oooh you don't know how MUCH I contemplated on going to church yesterday morning. It wasn't until I received a text and my friend informed me that they were in church and would call me later. For whatever reason that made me realize, well, hmm...there really isn't any good reason for me not going. Even though I went in my jeans and a shirt...I went.

The LORD says, "Come as you are!" I came and man! Why was there a straight party up in church first thing! Praise & Worship was off the chain yesterday morning!!! Woke me right up!!!! Finally after our SERIOUS praise session...Dr. Woods got into his sermon. It was so good I got 2 CD's cause I know a few people that need to listen to them!

Pastor said, "You need to have your own bible!" It was kinda funny when he said it...because I am sometimes guilty of maybe just looking on the screen behind him. Usually its because I am busy writing down the scriptures so that I can reflect later and re-read.

Pastor Woods said, we need to be able to pull out our bibles at any time of day or night. In the midnight hour, there will not be that screen that shows you the bible verse...so make sure YOU don't always rely and become some dependent on the screen!

I have my bible and bring it faithfully every Sunday! Its almost like not the same when you borrow someone elses bible...you know your bible front to back, side to side!

Anyhow...some scriptures to share.
Pastor has been speaking on a series of how we let the devil win.

John 10:10 says: The thief's purpose is to STEAL, KILL, & DESTROY! My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.

I Peter 5:8-9 Stay Alert and be aware of the devils tactics!
5:8 - Be careful - watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.
5:9 - Stand firm when he attacks. Trust the Lord; and remember that other Christians all around the world are going through these sufferings too.

So how does the devil win!?

We need to be able to sense when the devil is brewing up some stuff!
- He tells us lies
- He attempts to separate relationships
- He damages relationships with others through accusations.

How do we address the source of our anger?

II Timothy 2:23 - Again I say, don't get involved in foolish arguments which only upset people and make them angry.

When people are in strife its time to come to their senses!

Ephesians 4:26-27
4:26 - If you are angry, don't sin by nursing your grudge. Don't let the sun go down with you still angry - get over it quickly;
4:27 - for when you are angry you give a mighty foothold to the devil.

Proverbs 29:22 - A hot tempered man starts fights and gets into all kinds of trouble.

When does our anger become a problem? When it happens
- too frequently
- too long
- and too intense

So how do we address it?

1st we need to determine the SOURCE of our anger! Ask yourself..."Why am I SO angry!?
We must remember that a mad person cannot be a happy person.

Pastor Woods gave us Symptoms of someone with an Anger Problem:
1. Easily angered
2. Often angry
3. Lack of care of the impact of your words or actions
4. Frequent feeling that others are bad
5. Outbursts of words or actions that you later feel badly about
6. Others tell you that you have an anger problem
7. You have gotten in trouble due to your anger.

Next is to determine, what to do about it after determine your source!

Romans 12:17-18
12:17 - Never pay back evil for evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honest clear through.
12:18 - Don't quarrel with anyone. Be at peace with everyone, just as much as possible.

****People really need to check their tone!!!!**** Agree?

Bottom line...all Gods children trip! But it is up to us to determine how we react to certain situations. Lets get it together people!

Taking it one step at a time..

SHOCK & DENIAL..CHECK!

Did I react in disbelief? Yes!
Did I deny the reality to avoid the pain I was about to go through? Yes!

PAIN & GUILT....CHECK!
My shock wore off....the tears dried...and was in unbelievable pain. How could someone you thought you knew do such a thing?
I could not escape the pain....well at least I didn't resort to any drugs or alcohol. =) I'm still good...

I began to check myself. What did I do? Did I make this happen? Sure...I will be the first to say...there is no such thing as a perfect marriage, but damn, I mean we did take vows.

How can I save this marriage?
Life was really chaotic for a brief moment and very scary. However...I have to remind myself...that GOD is on my side.

ANGER & BARGAINING....CHHHHEEEECKKK!!!!
Frustration gave way to anger! Yall I was doin things that I wouldn't even think I would do...completely out of my character. But you know sometimes love will make you do some crazy things.

DEPRESSION, REFLECTION, LONELINESS...not sure I was at a state of Depression...my mama wouldn't allow that mess. Reflection, YES! Loneliness? Umm..maybe a little.

Just when I think I am getting back on track, he does some silly crap, just immature crap that makes me that much more angry! And really wanting me to get on with this...and do what I gotta do! I am rally trying to deal with this...I have my good days and most definitely have my bad days.

THE UPWARD TURN....this is what I am looking forward to. As you start to adjust to my new life without the man I have had by my side HALF my life, I am hoping things become calmer and more organized. I am hoping that my physical symptoms lessen, and my blah attitude begin to lift slightly.

RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH....looking forward to this too! Looking forward to not letting his silly butt bother me anymore. As I become more functional I hope my mind starts to work again in ways it did before. I intend to find myself seeking realistic solutions to problems brought forth with this huge life changing moment. I will begin to focus harder on my beautiful little girl, myself, and reconstructing myself as a whole.

ACCEPTANCE & HOPE....With GOD I know there is hope! I expect nothing more..nothing less! I do realize that everything is in Gods hands and he will carry me through this nasty mud. Carry me Lord....I know you will never give me nothing I cannot handle, that's what YOU said...and I trust in you and believe in you. Make it happen captain!

I will once again have good times and make new memories. This little girl keeps me going each and every day, her smile and little laugh embraces my soul in every way imaginable. Thank you GOD for giving me something out of this loss.

I will get through this...I know I will.

A Deep Message from Tyler Perry...

Hi there.I know I've been a little quiet lately but I've been in silent reflection,quiet meditation, and prayer. Turning 40 is such a blessing. Especiallybecause as I child I always thought I would die before I grew up.

If life begins at 40, then I owe the little boy that I was my life. Case in point, not long ago, I was brought a film to watch to see what Ithought of it. It's called PRECIOUS, based on the novel PUSH by Sapphire.I sat at home watching this movie not knowing what to expect. After the movie was over, I sat there for a long time just thinking about what I hadjust witnessed. I watched all the things that Precious, a 16-year-old girlin the film, went through. I watched her mother be unusually cruel to herand I realized at that moment that a large part of my childhood had justplayed out before my eyes. It hit me so hard, I sat there in tearsr ealizing that somehow, by the grace of God, I made it through. My tearswere tears of joy, being thankful that I made it.

Believe me when I tell you, PRECIOUS is a powerful film. After seeing it,I had to be involved. I didn't write it or direct it, nor am I making anymoney from it. Oprah and I both are giving any proceeds we would make tocharity. I just wanted to get as many people to see it as I can. It gaveme so much hope after watching it. For everyone who has been a Precious,male or female, this movie will make you so glad you made it through.

It took me through some raw emotions and brought me to some things andplaces in my life that I needed to deal with but had long forgotten. It brought back memories so strong that I can smell and taste them. Like,when I was very young, my mother decided to leave my father...she had had enough of his insanity. She loaded me and my two sisters up in an old Cadillac that he had bought for her, and drove to California. When herealized she was gone, he called the police and reported the car stolen,as it was in his name. My mother was arrested and my two sisters and I were put in the cell with her. He and my uncle drove from Louisiana to California to get us. We spent several days in jail waiting for him. He bailed her out and couldn't wait to get her into the car. He got into theback seat with us and beat her black and blue from California toLouisiana, as me and my sisters watched. Even though I was only two or three, I know that this had to have some effect on me.

I'm tired of holding this in. I don't know what to do with it anymore, so, I've decided to give some of it away...

Memories at 40: Not long ago, I was asked to speak at an engagement. Iwalked in and I was told that they had assigned a person to take care of me while I was there. She walked up to me, all of 5'2" of her, and askedif I needed anything. I looked at her and started to sweat. It took me back thirty-something years to her apartment. I couldn't have been more than 10 years old when I went over to play with her son and Matchbox cars.She opened the door in skimpy lingerie. There was a man sitting on the couch, smoking. She told me that her son was in the bedroom. I was there playing with him about 20 minutes when I heard the man arguing with her. He said he was leaving and slammed the door. She came into the bedroom and told me that I had to go home. She told her son to take a bath and she locked him in the bathroom. I was at the front door trying to get out,when she came in and laid on the sofa and asked me if I wanted the key. I told her I had to go home as it was getting dark. She put the key inside of herself and told me to come get it, pulling me on top of her.

Memories at 40: "What the f*#K are you reading books for?! That's bull*#*T!"

"You F*#*ing jackass! You got book sense but you ain't got no mothaf*#* encommon sense! You ain't sh*t and ain't never gonna be sh*t!" I heard this every day of my childhood. As my father would beat and belittle me, he played all kinds of mind games with me. He knew I loved cookies as a kid, most kids do. So he would buy them and put them on top of the fridge and when I would eat them he would beat me mercilessly.

My mother was out one night, as she loved to play bingo, and my father came home...mad at the world. He was drunk, as he was most of the time. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. To this day, I don't know what would make a person do something like that to a child. But thank God that in my mind, I left. I didn't feel it anymore, just like in PRECIOUS. How this girl would leave in her mind. I learned to use my gift, as it was myimagination that let me escape. After he was done with his rant he passed out. Since my aunt lived two doors down, I ran to her. She saw me and was horrified. She loaded her 357 and went to kill him. Holding a gun to his head, her husband came and stopped her.

Memories at 40: I got a call not long ago from a friend. He told me that a man that I knew from church when I was a kid had died and he didn't have any insurance. His family was trying to reach out to me to see if I would pay for his funeral. I quickly said no, but I wish I would have said yes.There is something so powerful to me in burying the man that molested me.I wish I would have dug the grave myself.

Memories at 40: I was about 8 or 9 years old. I had a crush on a little girl across the street. She would come over to my house and we'd play. She was about 12 or 13. One day she stopped coming and when I asked her why,she told me that my father was touching her. I didn't believe her, so I talked her into staying one night. We were both asleep -- she was in onebed and I was in another. I opened my eyes to see my father trying to touch her and her pushing him away. I moved in my bed trying to make him think I was waking up. He looked over at me and left out of the room. Not long after that, he beat me mercilessly for something again. Another mind game set up, so I told my mother what he had done. The blood drained from her face. We left that day. We were at my Aunt's house and he came there about 1am. Not long after that we were back at home. Nothing would compareto the random, drunken, violent beatings I would receive from then until Iwas 19.

Memories at 40: We would spend the summers in the country, with my father's adoptive mother. As a kid I was always sick. I had asthma and he hated it. He hated that I wasn't strong and viral like him. He hated thatI couldn't be in the saw dust, pollen and the raw lumber like him. He hatedthat I liked to read and write and draw. He hated that me and my middle sister were darker-skinned than him. He didn't think he could make a dark baby. He just hated everything about me I guess. Anyway, I had to go to the doctor every Tuesday to get shots to control my allergies. When his mother found out she said, "Ain't nothing wrong with that damn boy...he just got germs on him. Stop wasting all that money." When my mother left to visit some friends I heard what sounded like water running in a tub but it was sporadic. She came and got me out of the living room leaving my Matchbox cars on the floor. She said she was going to kill these germs on me once and for all. She gave me a bath in ammonia.

Grateful at 40: I was asked recently how I made it through all of this,(half has not even been told) and my answer to that is...I know for a fact that there is a GOD. When my father would say or do those things to me, I would hear this voice inside of me say, "That's not true" or, "Don'tbelieve that" or, "You're going to make it through this". I didn't know atthe time what "it" was, but today I surely have no doubt that "it" was GOD. That voice always gave me comfort. It allowed me to hold on. It kept me from being strung out on drugs, from dying when I wanted to commit suicide. It kept me from being a gang banger or drug dealer. Worse than all of those things put together, it kept me from being him. It brought angels to comfort me after every foul, harsh word or every welt on my legs or back. GOD, only GOD.

To know that the little boy that I was went through all that -- he went through and made it. Then me, as a man...I have to take on the responsibility of forgiving all of those people. I owe it to that little boy that I was and, more than that, I owe it to the man that I am. Think about it, as a child we have no recourse. We have nowhere to go. We haveto endure it. But as adults, we have choices. I choose to forgive with allmy might. Forgiveness has been my weapon of choice. It has helped to freeme.

If you're having a hard time getting over something in your life, maybeyou can try forgiveness too. It's not easy, but it does bring forth healing. I know that there are a lot of people out there with stories farworse than mine but you, too, can make it. To those of you who have,welcome to life. I celebrate you. We're all PRECIOUS in His sight.

Pimp Down!

Well....what had happened was...

Yesterday I made my move....my family pulled through for me yesterday! We got started around 8:30 and we were about to be finished and there was just one more last box in the UHAUL. So ...I was about to grab the LAST box off the UHAUL...and it had to be me right?

UGH! Well no! I didn't see the big A&% piece of glass from my coffee table that the BOX was holding up...so yes...it came crashing down on me! Corner of the glass CRASHED on the side of my leg by my knee...SLID down my leg landing at my ankle bone!

Outcome: SWELLING, PURPLE & BLUE BRUISING, and BLOOD!!!

Lets just say my leg looks like Maywether got a hold of it! It feels alot better today than yesterday though! MY mom really took care of me last night, kept me iced up even when I was sleep...Thank GOD for mommys!

Food For Thought...

People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON or a LIFETIME. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season .

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

My "Coming out Post"

Well...I wasn't exactly sure when I would be comfortable speaking on this...but as you know I have been MIA.

Reason being is I am currently going through a separation. It has truly been TOUGH! This aint to easy thing. My world has literally been flipped upside down.

BUT....the GREATEST thing about this is that...I have faith in GOD and that he will lead me to where I need to be. He will give me guidance in where I need to be. He will cover me with his shield and protect me and my baby girl at ALL times. That I DO have faith in.

I have literally been a mess...losing weight and all. Not because I want to but because of my nerves have been a wreck on top of my anxiety. So..I will turn that into something positive as a jump start to the new me!

The new me will be focusing on me and my baby girl. Going through this is tough, but has also has taught me things that I need to work on. Challenges I face will only teach me to become a stronger woman.

I want to THANK all of my family and friends that have been there for me and have comforted me in my time of need...Some people may ask why I may be sharing this information, well you should know me one way or another if you visit my blog. I am not any scrap superstar or anything, and I don't really have just random people visiting my blog. You must know me if you are reading.. =)

Me and Bre are doing fine...it will just take some time to heal, thats all. We will be fine.

All I ask is that you continue to to pray for my strength! All of this has forced me to take a look at myself. It is teaching me alot for the future.

Well today was Breanna's 2nd birthday and we celebrated pretty lo key today. Her cousins came down from Huntington Beach to celebrate with her, one of her Grandmas, one of her Grandpas (Big Reggie), Uncles, Aunties and more cousins.

Today she woke up today not feeling so great and my mom said she had a runny

nose! AHHH MANN!!! NO!!!!! I so dislike it when my baby girl is not feeling well. Anyway once she got around her cousins, she was being her crazy self again...after the company left she became clingy again..she is sooo fighting sleep right now.

Weird how fast news flys...from country to country...

One of my coworkers emailed me (from a different office), then my mom called me, checked Facebook, it was all over, all over MSN search,l TMZ, Enews, etc. =(

I figured if he was not breating when they picked him up it might not be good.

Micheal had a very hard life...poor guy. He has always been at the end of someones jokes, and I will admit Ive made a few too. Must admit...he was different. But alot of it had to do with his upbringing and being forced into the entertainment industry as a little boy.

He completely missed out on his childhood, didn't even have a chance! I mean, they guy has never really lead a "normal" life.

I truly hope the family keeps it together as best as they can, and no drama starts as it usually does in most families. I pray for peace in their family, and especially those children of his. How many did he have 2? 3?

Well my nana's bday was yesterday, I guess he was invited to her birthday party! And Farrah was the guest of honor...Ed was also among the list of attendees...I could only imagine the partying that went on up there!

Micheal will truly be missed! That man made some great music! WONDERFUL music! Party hits, just music you can 2 step to, swing your hips, that twirl-a-round, grab your crotch, HEEE HEEE music!

I will be making some tribut CD's for my coworkers...glad I have a few of his greatest hits.. =)

Whew. Rest in Peace Mike.....Farrah...and Ed. Lost 3 great entertainers in one week....too much to swallow.

I'm slightly jealous....cause I know you are eating cake and eating it with most wonderful man!

Well, today is your birthday and I sit hear shedding tears because I cannot physically hug you. Yes, you can say I am having my moment now.

You were and will always be the most greatest nana in the world....you will definately not be forgotten.

Remember when we were sitting in the Dr's office one day once your visits started to occur...I made a promise to you. I promised that your people (Pupie & her two boys) will be taken care of. I promised you that they would be taken care of. I am carrying out that duty today and everyday. I know you are very proud of them as they have came a very long way....its been rough, but Pupie is getting use to living on her own and being independent. Its a struggle at times, but she is loving every minute of it. She is ever so thankful for us helping her to get to this point. Matthew is doing really well in school. =) Unfortuantely we had to take him out of private so that he could get the attention that he needed.

On the other hand, family dynamics aren't so great as you already know whats goin on. But I am sure you are not surprised of the events that took place shortly after you departed. You know it truly hurt me that there were such nasty accusations against me from other family members. People get so ugly after loved ones leave the earth. Its a shame. And I actually thought my family would be exempt from such craziness....NOT! As long as I KNOW that you KNOW whats up and that I would NEVER create any harm to anyone in my family. Never. But this too you already know.

I just wanted to say that I LOVE YOU and truly TRULY miss you. I think about you daily...most of the time at night or when Bre does something funny. Everytime she does something silly I just wish I could pick up the phone and call you and say, " NANA! Do you know what this girl just did!?" She has grown sooooo much and developing so well, and is the biggest clown ever. Well who's her parents? She learns from the best! Even though I can't pick up the phone to call you...I know you see everything. You are a witness to it all, and I know she keeps you in tears from laughing at the things she does.

4th of July is coming up, one of your favorite holidays. We will make sure Pupie and her boys pick out some fireworks as you always would pitch in for the big kahunas! Well, we don't have them this year, so we will just buy from the stands.

It has been so hard being without you. The holidays that have passed the birthday celebrations and so forth. We just celebrated moms birthday, mom and dads 23rd wedding anniversary and Big Reggies, Little Reggie and Stans Fathers Day in Vegas this past weekend. Everyone had a ball. Ebony flew down and even Tommy, Mickey, Thomas, his wife Nichole and their new baby girl Eilianna drove from Arizona to visit with us. She is too cute! The traffic from Vegas was horrific...6 long hours. Long enough to think about flying next time!

So...anyway...I just wanted to start my day off by telling you how much I miss you. But you already know that though. You left to fast....everythnig happened just too fast. I LOVE you Nana....now go back to your birthday party sweet thang!

March of Dimes Walk 2009

I am so happy to FINALLY be posting this post! Well I left my previous post up for a good reason....as a reminder to help me accomplish my goals for the March of Dimes Walk.! This year Bre did not join me because her attention span wouldn't work with me for 6 miles!

I know times are very hard on all of us which is why I am ever so grateful for those who did give me some "extra"money that could had went to either the gas tank or the kitchen table!

I completed the walk in about 1 & 1/2 hour...the weather was pleasant. My "Sista from anotha Mista" (Alondra) came along and we were on a serious mission. Why? Well dugh...we had a crop to get to. Shout out to WhoGivesaScrap!

Anyhow, the show can finally move on...have posted and now you can expect to see lots of other goodies that I have been holding on to until I posted about March of Dimes!

Okay...I did leave out one part....How come I couldn't find my vehicle in the parking structure....kid you not, I walked the dang structure about 12 minutes...I was really tired and REALLY needed to potty! Time was NOT on my side! I mean imagine....I had just completed this 6 mile walk...NOW I really need to get to my crop. I was in Reggies truck and I couldn't set the alarm off cause of course the horn isn't working probably due to a minor fuse! So I am walking and walking and walking. It was my first time parking in RCC's (Riverside Community College) structure...and when you enter you enter on the top level...so I was all twisted!!!

Anyway...stop laughing now.

March for Babies....Yes, I'm walking again!

Hello friends and family!

Yes, it is that time of year again! As you all know I am a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Pi Zeta Zeta Chapter and we participate in the March of Dimes / March for Babies walk annually.

Last year my goal was $200 and thanks to YOU I did that and THEN SOME! So I am upping my goal by $100 this year! My personal goal this year will be $300 and I am asking you again to please help me get there! Any little bit will help whether its $1, $5 or $10!

Tyler has got two new leading ladies. Filming has started on Tyler Perry’s new Madea movie, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Taraji P. Henson stars along with Singer Mary J. Blige. Blige will play a waitress. The movie opens in theatres this September.

“The Don” stays out of jail. Don Cornelius, the 72-year old founder of Soul Train, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor spousal battery charge. During an incident last fall, Cornelius was charged with attacking his young, brunette wife, Viktoria. Cornelius got three years probation, and he will have to attend a year-long domestic violence course.

When is Michael Jackson coming home? Will he do any concerts in the United States? After he’s finished up with a new round of plastic surgery, The King Of Pop is set to start a 50 night concert stand in London. If all goes well overseas, Jackson is expected to do a series of shows in New York and Los Angeles. Jackson is working to repay his debts, plus he misses the spotlight. There is even word he may pop up on American Idol this season. It depends on how much plastic surgery he gets because his face has to heal.

Now speaking of plastic surgery, have you noticed a change with Rapper Lil’ Kim since she joined Dancing With The Stars. She looks a lot better. Well, that’s because she had more work done, and she’s looking a Lil’ cute. I love her on the show: her attitude, her dance moves. Bruno the judge looks like he wants to snatch her up when she dances. I think she’s going to go far in the competition.

Spike Lee is doing a telepic for ESPN about Kobe Bryant. This look at a day in the life of the Lakers star is called Kobe Doin’ Work.

Actress Alfre Woodard is coming back to TV. She will be one of the stars of the FOX show Maggie Hill. Woodard will play a doctor.

And they said it wouldn’t last. I was one of them. The first anniversary of The Cannons is coming up. Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are getting ready to celebrate their first anniversary. The two are rumored to be buying a mansion in California. Despite pregnancy rumors and the fact that she has Cannon on a leash, he has made out great. Not content to rest of his laurels, Cannon recently signed a deal to develop shows for Nickelodeon where he got his start. Plus, this summer he’s hosting NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

Jennifer Hudson is returning to American Idol. In a segment that will air later this year, Hudson will return to the stage that booted her off four years ago. She didn’t win American Idol, but she is the most successful contestant. In addition to the Oscar, Grammy, movies and new album, she also made headlines with the unfortunate murders of her family. Ruben Studdard is also returning for a special show later this year. Hudson will sing something from her Grammy award-winning album. She is getting ready for her national tour with Robin Thicke.

Jennifer’s sister Julia is also making headlines. Julia Hudson has started her modeling career. With the help of Fashion Maven Harvey Star Washington, Julia Hudson wants to make her mark on the modeling world. Reppin' the big girls, Julia says after her family tragedy five months ago, she is ready to move on with her life. Her former husband has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her family members.

Oprah Winfrey is sharing again. First, she teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama. Now she’s sharing a cover of O magazine with fellow Talk Show Hostess Ellen DeGeneres for the May issue.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s new TV drama about nurses, Hawthorne, debuts in June on the TNT network.

Congrats to Actor Taye Diggs and his wife, Broadway Star Idina Menzel. They are expecting their first child.

Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy back together! HUH?! It was just a few weeks ago that the former NFL star caught Nicole Murphy cheating on him. Strahan, who just retired from the New York Giants, had a tracking device installed in Nicole’s car. That’s when he found out she was seeing another man, a young record executive. The record executive broke things off with Murphy, and now it appears Murphy and Strahan are getting close again. Murphy’s children really like Strahan, and he recently accompanied Murphy and her children to the premiere of Monsters Versus Aliens. It was a fun, family night, but a lot of people were shocked to see them together. Why would Strahan take her back if he’s spying on her? It’s obvious he can’t trust her. Well, Nicole Murphy has long money, long, long Eddie Murphy money. Since divorcing the entertainer, she is one of the richest divorcees in town. Strahan is trying to jump start a TV career, but he lost his money divorcing his last wife, Jean. I guess he figures if he can track her, he might as well stay and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Whatever happened to Chico DeBarge? Since his release from prison, the popular singer has been named the managing director of People Reclaiming Ourselves. He is planning to travel across the country helping other people make the transition from prison life to regular society.

The Norman Lear Collection, a boxed DVD set, is coming out on June 9th. Norman Lear is the famed producer behind the TV classics The Jeffersons, Good Times, All In The Family, Maude and Sanford & Son to name a few. The first seasons of those and other Lear classics will be included in the set.

Whoopi Goldberg is tired of people criticizing the way she dresses. Since taking the helm of the daytime talker, The View, ratings have soared, but, so has the criticism regarding her fashion sense. Goldberg is fed up. She says Don’t Judge Me By What I Wear, Judge Me By What I Say. Basically, she is telling the critics to kiss her behind.

Since getting fired from Grey’s Anatomy, times have been tough for Actor Isaiah Washington and his family. Washington, along with his wife and kids, may be losing his home. He is five months behind on his rent. He owes $100,000 to his landlord. Reports say he has been arguing with his financial consultants, and that’s why he doesn’t have the money.

Check out Jill Scott on the new issue of Heart And Soul magazine. She’s expecting her first child, a son, any day now, and this Sunday her new TV series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency debuts on HBO. I loved the kickoff. Anika Noni Rose co-stars as her assistant and is very funny. Jill is amazing. She brings the precious character, “Mma Ramotswe,” to life. The movie was filmed in Botswana, Africa. It was very beautiful. If you like mysteries, this is the show for you. The show debuts this Sunday, March 29th 8pm on HBO.

Legendary Entertainer Ben Vereen has signed on to be the new spokesperson for Diabetes awareness. Vereen was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and he will be starring in the new Take The Stage For Diabetes Awareness campaign.

Comedian George Lopez is coming to late night TV. Lopez has signed a deal with the TNT network for a late night show starting in the fall.

Does Beyonce wear butt pads? According to designer Thierry Mugler, B has a little back there. He says he always adds padding with her corsets so she can have an hourglass figure.

Jimmy Rollins in Playboy magazine? Yes! Rollins, a.k.a. “J-Roll,” of the Philadelphia Phillies is doing a fashion spread with his beautiful girlfriend, Johari Smith. Look for the issue in June.

Get ready for more Stevie Harvey. Harvey says with the success of his bestselling book, Act Like A Lady-Think Like A Man, he will be doing a follow-up. Meanwhile the WDAS-FM morning man is coming to town. On April 1st, Harvey will be signing copies of Act Like A Lady-Think Like A Man at Borders Bookstore, Broad and Chestnut Streets. This was me yesterday....LOL! I have to laugh all over again!

Well Alondra gave me the idea after she came to last weeks crop at Collective Journey with this wig on. I was CRACKING UP! So you know I thought it would be perfect if I wore it to work! YES! I did wear to work! =)

I was trying to persuade myself before leaving for work whether or not I wanted to DRIVE to work with it on...and OF COURSE I DECIDED TO! LOL! I KNOW people were looking at me, but didn't want to get caught staring! LOL! I occasionally at a stop sign would look to my right...then look to my left and no one would be looking at me. Instead they were looking straight ahead! I know they had to see my enormous green curly wig! People are just no fun! I was hoping I would catch someones eye...so I can simply wave, laugh, give a thumbs up or something!

I didn't catch someone looking until I got off work...a little girl started busting up in the car and I saw her nudge her dad. LOL! For some reason the dad didn't appear to be amused...whatever. Not sure what was up his butt! LOL! I guess the leperchaun didn't visit him with any luck that day!

I had Reggie take a pic of me at home in the morning, but haven't had a chance to upload those yet. But here is the pic that Laurie took of me at work while at my desk! I had everyone in laughs the whole day at work...mission completed. LOL!

The truth is out! Did Chris Brown ever love Rihanna? In the latest installment of the saga between the two pop stars, the other woman in this drama has been revealed. On the night of the fateful beatdown (nice words...) , Brown received a text message from a woman he was having an affair with. Rihanna read the message and went off. She allegedly hit him and he not only hit back but attacked her. The message on the text came from his 40-year old manager. There was a rumor that the two were having an affair, and now it’s been confirmed. Apparently, the manager, Tina Davis, a former VP of A&R at Def Jam Records started having an affair with Brown when he was 16-years old. ( JAIL TIME!) Brown is now 19. It appears despite his relationship with the 21-year old Rihanna, Davis and Brown never stopped messing around. Did Brown embark on a relationship with Rihanna to cover his affair with his much older manager? I always thought it was a publicity stunt, but along the way, Rihanna fell in love. When she came to court, she stated to the judge that she’s broke and asked for government assistance to pay for her lawyer (what!? Personal bailouts!? Who can I speak to about getting mine!!) . Things are looking up for show favorite NeNe Leakes. She just signed a deal for a mini-mansion so she can live there with her family. Kim Zolciak is going to reveal who Big Poppa is. Big Poppa is Kim’s married boyfriend. He’s an Arab real estate tycoon who leaves his wife to move in with Kim and her two daughters this season (Ugh...fake!) . DeShawn Snow is out, and Kandi Burruss is in. The new housewife is a Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter. Burruss used to sing with the 90’s group Xscape, and she also used to date the late singer, Gerald Levert. Levert was crazy about Burruss, but the relationship ended when he couldn’t take her ego. Tyler Perry has found his new leading lady, and she’s on the cover of Essence magazine. Taraji P. Henson is featured on the new issue of Essence with Tennis Champ Serena Williams and trailblazing Model Iman. They appear on the issue celebrating being sexy at any age. This is Henson’s first appearance on the cover of Essence. Fresh off of her Oscar nominated role in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Henson has signed on for the new Madea movie, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Yes, Tyler Perry is bringing Madea back, and filming starts this week. The new Madea movie is coming out September 10th (Sheila...can you take me with you please?) . In other Tyler Perry news, look for him in the new Star Trek movie coming out in May. And, there will be a sequel to Why Did I Get Married with the original cast. That movie is coming out in spring 2010 (WOW! Love Tasha Smith!)

LisaRaye McCoy says no married men for her. The former First Lady Of The Turks & Caicos Islands is shooting down reports that she was messing around with married Singer Ginuwine. They recently shot a music video together, and the sparks were so hot on the set, rumors started flying that the two were having an affair. Ginuwine is married to Rapper Sole, and they have three children. LisaRaye says yes she is looking to find love again, but he will have to be single.

Football’s Terrell Owens has a new football home. The former 49er, Eagle and Cowboys star is seeing his career wind down on a low note. Teams are tired of his antics, and he is only being offered one-year deals. His latest deal with the Buffalo Bills is only for one year. It’s like when someone only wants to date you but never marry you. Owens is 35-years old. He wants to do TV now that he is no longer a Cowboy. Will he still do his planned reality show?

Sherri Shepherd of The View has just signed a deal with the Lifetime network. The show will be much like her personal life: being married with a baby and dealing with her husband’s pregnant girlfriend. In the TV show, they all live together, but in real life Shepherd sent her hubby packin’. (WOW!)

Steve Harvey is coming to town. On April 1st, Harvey will be signing copies of his best-selling book, Act Like A Lady-Think Like A Man, at Borders Bookstore, Broad and Chestnut Streets. He’s also hosting his Radio Star talent competition at the Kimmel Center, Broad and Spruce Streets. Tix are on sale now. Steve is also teaming up with Oprah Winfrey. He is doing a show about his book on her show. She will turning her show over to Steve.

A million people have registered for tickets for Michael Jackson’s concerts in London. The demand has been so great, another series of shows have been scheduled for London early next year. Now there is concern about Jackson health, and how he will hold up during his concert tour. So far everything is set to launch July 9th. The King Of Pop says he is touring one last time so his kids can see what he does for a living.

This was not a good week for Singer/Actor Tyrese Gibson. Tyrese has been ordered to pay almost $10,000 a month to his ex-wife Norma Gibson. Tyrese and his ex-wife have a two-year old daughter Shayla. They were married for 10 months when Tyrese decided to call it quits. A judge responded not so fast and how he has to pay up. He has come a long way from his smiling days with Coca Cola. Now it’s time for Tyrese to get serious about his career. Sources say he wants to concentrate on his acting.

Fantasia starts her stint in the national touring company of The Color Purple in June. Fantasia reprises her role as “Celie.”

Comedian Joe Torry is in trouble. During a stint in Japan, Torry got into a fistfight with a female comedienne. The female comic, Vanessa Fraction, alleges Torry punched her and pulled her hair during a fight.(DANG TORRY!!!) Torry says there was an altercation, but he apologized. Fraction says that was not enough. She is planning to press charges and file a civil suit against the comedian.

Chris Rock has signed on for the movie Death At A Funeral. Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, Loretta Devine, Regina Hall and Columbus Short have also signed on. (That should be classic! (Cheryl...you can take me to this one...) The movie is due out next year.

Speaking of Chris, his brother, Tony Rock, is going to have to face the music after his recent D.U.I. arrest. Rock faces up to six months in jail for drunk driving. During his arrest, Rock allegedly mocked the police officers, and told them he would skip the alcohol ed. courses. He’s going to have to do a lot of explaining to the judge.

Is Kimora Lee Simmons a married lady? Well not exactly. She and longtime boyfriend, Actor Djimon Hounsou, participated in a commitment ceremony last summer in Africa. They view themselves as married, but it is not legal in the United States. A legal ceremony is scheduled for later this year along with the birth of their first child. Kimora was decked out in African garb for her commitment ceremony. She did bring her daughters by ex, Hip Hop Mogul Russell Simmons. They were very confused about what was going on with mommy. One of the girls fell asleep while the other cried. Kimora was recently granted a divorce from Simmons, and was awarded $40,000 a month in child support.

Congrats to the Smiths! Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, recently opened their new school in California. The new Village Leadership Academy is for kids from pre-K to sixth grade.

On March 31st, Access Hollywood TV Host Shaun Robinson hits the shelves with a new book celebrating girls’ self esteem with advice from America’s most successful women. Another show cancelled this week was D.L. Hughley Breaks The News on CNN. Hughley says this was a mutual decision with the network, and he will stay with CNN as a contributor. (Heard it wasn't that great anyway!)

Beyonce is on the cover of Ebony magazine talking about marriage and movies. Her new movie, Obsessed with Idris Elba, comes out on April 24th.

Speaking of Idris, he’ll play Jill Scott’s love interest in the series opener of Scott’s new HBO series, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. The show debuts on HBO March 29th.

Singer Jazmine Sullivan will be featured in the new George Lucas film, Red Tails. Sullivan will play a jazz singer in the movie about the Tuskegee airmen. Singer Ne-Yo is also starring.

Prince recently signed a deal with Target retail stores. Prince is releasing a three-disc set of new music, which will be sold exclusively at Target. The set comes out March 29th. Prince is also doing a series for shows for Jay Leno. Prince will be performing live on The Tonight Show on March 25th, 26th and March 27th. Prince is also helping Jay say goodbye to Tonight. Prince will be performing on May 28th. After 17 years, Leno’s last night on The Tonight Show is May 29th.

Producer Lee Daniels has changed the name of his upcoming release. The long awaited project Push will be renamed Precious. The movie is scheduled to be released later this year and stars Mo’Nique, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey and new comer Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe as “Precious.”

Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey have joined forces to help Lee with the promotion of this movie. The film Precious is based on the book Push by Sapphire, and focuses on the plight of a 16-year old who suffered years of abuse but overcomes her odds with the help of others.

The Bynum Brothers are back with a new venture. They own Warmdaddy’s on Columbus Boulevard and had the old Zanzibar Blue in Center City. Their latest project is called RELISH at 7152 Ogontz Avenue. 4-1-1 ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 23rd, 2009

The dress stays on! Tyler Perry wants to let go of his on-screen alter ego. But after raking in over $43 million at the box office, the dress and wig will stay on. Filming starts next month on a new “Madea” movie, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. It’s based on his 1999 hit play. Tyler has a lot of projects coming up: a role in the new Star Trek movie; a 1940’s period piece, Jazz Man’s Blues; and a movie project designed for Jennifer Hudson. Despite all of this, there is too much money in "Madea" to stop dressing in drag.

Chris Brown is gearing up for his March 5th court date. He has started taking anger management classes. It was almost three weeks ago that Brown was arrested for assaulting Pop Singer Rihanna. During the past week, photos were leaked showing a bruised and battered Rihanna. Rihanna recently turned 21, and friends say she received flowers, a diamond bracelet, necklace and an IPod Touch from Brown. The big question being asked this week is: is the pop princess pregnant? So far, Rihanna has been refusing to answer any questions about Brown and their relationship, but she thanks her fans for their love and support. (Wow...)

Tameka Foster Raymond is out of the hospital, back in Atlanta and begging for forgiveness. Tameka almost died three weeks ago during a plastic surgery procedure in Brazil. She snuck off to Brazil, leaving her babies behind and never said a word to her husband Usher. Tameka recently gave birth to their second child two months ago. She went to Brazil to undergo a lipo and tummy tuck procedure. Tameka suffered a heart attack and had to be placed in a medically induced coma. Usher mother, Johnetta Patton, was livid. Why would this woman do this to her son? Why would she leave her babies? Is she that vain? Since retaking the management reigns of her son’s career, Johnetta has tried to stay away from the goings on in the marriage. But this time, Johnetta realized she couldn’t stay quiet any longer. She made it clear to Tameka these antics have to stop: Straighten Up And Be A Wife And Mother To Your Kids. Let Usher do his job. There is no room for you in his career. You are his wife, so act like a wife. Usher is clearly in the middle of this on going saga, but he was livid with his wife. How could she embarrass him like that? He has a new album that he is working on, and he doesn’t need distractions. (She is a crazy woman...off the hook! A heart attack...my goodness!)

Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman is finding out the hard about a woman scorned. At 71-years old, Easy Reader is finding out that jumpoffs talk. Back in August, Freeman almost lost his life in a car crash. He was in a car with a woman who was not his wife. After he was released from the hospital, he decided to divorce his wife and take up with yet another woman. Well, the woman in the car said WTH! Oh No Morgan, I have been quiet too long. In a recent press conference, Demaris Meyer stated that she was seeing Freeman while he was married. Now, Meyer is suing him for damages. (He asked for that one...come on Morgan..you are smarter than that...NOT!)

Singer Keith Sweat is being sued by his ex-wife. Sweat used to be married to Lisa Hartwell, a.k.a Lisa Wu of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. Wu is not only suing her ex-husband, but she wants custody of their two sons, ages 11 and 14. Wu has since remarried, and she has a young child with her husband, former NFL Star Ed Hartwell.

Is Oprah ready to step aside? Well not so fast. The Mighty O has stated she is tired of being on the cover of her O magazine, and she is in talks with First Lady Michelle Obama to appear on the cover. Well, it appears Oprah will now be doing a joint cover with the First Lady, if it happens.

Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock was arrested last week on suspicion of drunk driving. Rock says it was all a big misunderstanding. Rock says he doesn’t have a problem with holding his liquor.

Get ready for the reunion of Bell Biv DeVoe. A reunion album is in the works for Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition fame. (POOISSOOOON...)

Basketball Star Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat wants to clear his name. Wade is going through a nasty divorce with his wife Siovaughn. During the proceedings, Siovaughn released a statement claiming Wade gave her a nasty STD. Siovaughn later retracted her statements when she got her divorce settlement, but the damage was done. Wade has filed a defamation suit against his ex. Wade is claiming he is the victim of a reckless campaign spearheaded by his ex-wife. He says she deliberately wanted to publicly humiliate him and damage his reputation.

Is Singer Lauryn Hill pregnant again? Word has it she is pregnant with baby number six. This would be the sixth child for Lauryn and Rohan Marley. Hill is currently living with her parents.

Stevie Wonder’s wife, Fashion Designer Kai Milla is in talks with the Lifetime Channel to do a reality show. Milla is one of the favorites of First Lady Michelle Obama.Paula Abdul revealed her true feelings during a recent interview.

Abdul was asked how she felt about a fourth judge (a female) being added to the American Idol mix. In the beginning, Abdul said she didn’t have a problem, but now she is stating that a fourth judge just doesn’t work. She says having a fourth judge disrupts the flow of the show. This is the last season of Paula’s contract, which makes you wonder will she be staying on as a judge for American Idol? (Paula needs to stap away from the pipe!)

In more Idol news, Ruben Studdard is branching out on his own. The former American Idol winner is having money problems. He owes the I.R.S. a lot of money, and he was recently dropped from his record label. Studdard is launching his next project on an independent label. (What is goin on!?) The album, Love Is, is due out May 19th.

Speaking of American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson is gearing up for her first tour. She is hitting the road on a mini-tour with Singer/Songwriter Robin Thicke. Once Hudson finishes up the tour, she wants to head back into the studio to work on a gospel music CD.

Luther Campbell, a.k.a…Uncle Luke, had to spend a little time in jail. Campbell owed $11,000 in attorney fees in a child support custody case. He had been refusing to pay the attorneys for his baby momma. In the 1980’s, Campbell spearheaded the free speech movement with his raunchy rap act 2 Live Crew.

Former Basketball Great Charles Barkley is going to jail. Barkley recently pleaded guilty to drunk driving and running a red light after getting arrested late last year. Barkley starts his 5 day prison sentence on March 21st. He will also have to attend alcohol rehabilitation classes.

Eddie Murphy is looking to redeem himself in Hollywood. Realizing his crass behavior cost him an Oscar, Murphy is looking to turn things around. He has agreed to support his baby with Spice Girl Mel B. She is getting $52,000 a month in child support, and he also agreed to visitation rights. (WHAT!!!!!!?????) Murphy surprised a lot of people when he showed up to present a humanitarian award to Comedy Legend Jerry Lewis at this month’s Academy Awards. Murphy was on his best behavior, backstage he said he was humbled to be able to honor Lewis.

Speaking of Murphy, remember his comedy hit Coming To America? Well, Martin Lawrence is putting a different spin on it. 21 years ago, Coming to America joined the ranks of one of the great comedy classics, and now, Lawrence is putting together Back To America. Progress on 52 Week Challenge

For 2009 I challenged my Yahoo Group WhoGivesaScrap to take part in Elsies 52 Challenges. Well I thought I would asses my progress with the 52 Week Challenge, and I guess I am doin okay. There are a few I need to go back and complete, Week 2 & 7. I will take care of that momentarily... =)

Week # 1 - Work Those Words
Whether it’s a quote, a list of your favorite adjectives or computer-generated phrases, journaling on strips of cardstock is a great way to add visual excitement to your page. Be creative and cut a favorite quote [or song] into pieces to add to your design.
**I used journaling strips to list my resolutions for 2009.

Week # 3 - Customize a Ribbon Border
No matter how you turn it or what you add to it (think buttons, lace, eyelets and embroidery floss), ribbon is a terrific border that can be attached in so many creative ways – with eyelets , brads, staples, embroidery floss and more.
**I used a few multi-colored ribbons and placed at the top of the layout...

Week #4 - Make Your Own: Chipboard Accents
Chipboard is so popular right now! By making your own chipboard accents, you can add a custom look to any scrapbook page. Follow these easy steps to make your own accent:1.) Draw or trace a shape on plain chipboard.2.) Cut the accent out with scissors or a craft knife.3.) Paint the accent a fun color4.) Try buttons, flowers, sticker, jewels....anything that appeals to you!
**I hand cut some chipboard and used a cateye to color in and then did a little doodling...

Week #5 – Embellish a Floral Accent no matter what your page topic, I bet you can find a place for a flower accent in your design. But take it up a notch. Embellish the center of your flower with a mini clock, a tiny thread-tied-button or patterned paper. And don’t be afraid to turn a large flower shape into a photo frame
***Placed a sticker over a flower....nice and simple =)

Week #6 – Create a Ribbon Cluster
Ribbons are beautiful accents on a page – no matter what! But why not take the next step? Challenge yourself to create an accent with a cluster of ribbons. Just tie two, three, four or more ribbons and cluster them together in the same area on your page. To finish the look, tie them onto cardstock, weave them through an embroidered border, or hook a tiny safety pink through them.

Week #8 – Group Four Photos
Elsie loves creating one-photo layouts, but sometimes she has more than one photograph to feature on a page. She likes to take four (or more) photographs and cluster them together in a group. This makes them appear almost as one large focal-point photo but allows her to display more images at one time. Try it!
..sorry about the title, I debated on whether to place "2gether" on the patterned paper...shouldn't had done it! Oh well...that's what it says though...

Week 9 - Doodle on Photographs
Don’t be afraid to express yourself by doodling right on your photos! (If you’re worried about ruining them, doodle on a digital print.) Try using your own handwriting in an open area of the photograph – or use a doodle rub-on instead!

Why did I take a pic of my food...well all my scrapper friends will understand...from a scrappers standpoint. This pic was originally taken for the Project 365...I was supposed to be participating in this year (taking a photo a day..) well...that fell by the wayside last month..took some pics that never got on my blog!

Anyway, Reg took me out one day and we had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, this is one of their good dishes. This was their spicy chicken strips and mashed potatoes, and YES it was good!

If you don't know me by now I like to celebrate birthdays. Well these pics were taking during Alondras surprise birthday celebration. Rochelle swung by and picked Alondra up at home and brought her to BC's Cafe where we all met up for breakfast. After getting super stuffed..we took her on a small shopping spree to some surrounding scrap stores, we actually ended up traveling to more than planned....We started off at Scrappin Good Times in San Dimas, then took the girls to Scrap N Yap for the first time, then to another store in Monrovia, forgot the name of it...

After the stores, we topped it off at Baskin Robbins..yummo!

Disneyland and my Week Off...

So..what a wonderful week I have had off.

Monday...celebrated Martin Luther King and everything he stood for! We also took Bre to Johns Incredible Pizza that night for the first time....we had a great time...she got LOTS of tickets and came home with alot of little rinky dink toys! I almost went to jail though....some little boy came up to Bre and cold smacked her in the face....my baby didn't even invite him over...talk to him or nothin...he just kinda came out of nowhere and smacked her! I flew up so fast and almost smacked him damn back! OOOHHH I was heated!!!! He was maybe older than her by only a few months. The sad part about it is he possibly gets it from home....anyway, mommy hugged her and kissed her until she was all better....

Tuesday...celebrated AGAIN as Obama was sworn in. So BLESSED and happy to be apart of this HISTORY! My daughter will be able to read about this in her History class when she goes to school.

Wednesday...My sister was down for her birthday, which was on Friday, but she had to work....so we still went to Disneyland. =) Myself, Reg, Bre, Ebony and my mom all went to Disneyland and we had a great time. My mom hadn't been in so long and I was so happy that she hung and was able to share Bre's first experience with her and us. =) (Love you mom...I know you are reading! Proud of ya for hanging!)

Thursday...We returned to California Adventure since they are doin the 2fer (2 for one price for Southern Cali Residents). Ebony had never been to Adventure so we thought we would go for only a few hours. Well...a few hours turned into another ALL day event...which was fine, cause Bre had another good day! She especially loved the Pixar parade...I enjoyed it myself!

Friday...went to breakfast with a friend and glad I did as we were able to have a nice conversation over some good food. =) Got a fill and ran some other errands, basically kicked it for the rest of they day.

Hard to believe I have been off a week and have not been productive at all scrap wise. I tried one day, but it wasn't working out possibly due for a few reasons...wasn't feelin to hot (most likely due to all the stress I have been under), my toddler was VERY curious as to what I was doin, hubby was here and sister. =) I will definitely need to catch up for lost time!

Anyhow...of course I have pics from Disneyland and I will post them here below. They are also on my slide but here are a few of my favs...

Attack of the Candy Cane!

So Bre and the Candy Cane had a wonderful time....
Well...if any of you are parents out there with little ones you know who Moose A. Moose and Zee are. Well around the Christmas season they did a little song /video where Moose A. Moose wanted a Candy Cane. Well Zee ended up getting him a Candy Cane for Christmas and he was so delighted!

Well when Bre saw that she had a candy cane she too was delighted! It was after breakfast and the song came on...so she was still in her high chair thanki God...so I went ahead and gave her a candy cane...IT WAS STILL WRAPPED...but smarty pants figured a way to open...next thing I know her face is PINK! LOL!!!

So this is what I saw below....a sticky freakin mess! LOL! You should had heard the sound of her hands sticking to her high chair! LOL!

Did Beyonce really say that? Beyonce graces the cover of the new issue of Elle magazine. She talks about her life growing up, and she takes time to diss the first family of music, the Jacksons. Beyonce talked about her upper middle class upbringing and compared her family, the Knowles led by patriarch Matthew Knowles, to the famed Jacksons. Beyonce basically accused Joe and Katherine Jackson of using their children for their own good. The hissing you hear is probably Janet and Michael saying WTH! How dare she?!! Why did Beyonce go there? Doesn’t she realize how bad she dissed the Jacksons? This is not a good time for the family. Janet’s publicity stunts are becoming a bad joke, and she is starting to gain weight again. Michael keeps pretending he’s sick. He’s really just broke. As for the other family members, they are trying to find their way. Maybe this is “Sasha Fierce” talking and not Beyonce. In other Beyonce news, she desperately wants to be added to the ticket for the Obama Inaugural Ball. Aretha Franklin is performing. Rihanna is performing, but as of press time, no Beyonce. Beyonce and her people can’t believe it. She is the hottest chick in the game. Where is her invite? Beyonce is pulling out all the tricks, including recording a song called Proud To Be An American. In the promo shot, she had her face painted red white and blue. Will this get her an invite to the inauguration?

Jennifer Hudson will be making her first public appearance in February after the tragic murders of her family. Hudson will be performing at a music event honoring the legendary Singer/Songwriter Neil Diamond. The festivities are happening during Grammy week. Hudson is up for four Grammy Awards. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards air on February 8th.

Is she or isn’t she? What’s up with Mariah Carey? Is she pregnant by her hubby Nick Cannon? Her spokespeople say no, but she is trying to get pregnant and have a baby next year.

Will Ashanti take it all off? Playboy magazine is offering “Thick Ums” thousands of dollars to pose nude, and she says she is thinking about it.

Since the tragic death earlier this year involving Singer Sean Levert, a new policy has been put in place allowing more flexibility in giving out anti-anxiety medicine. Inmates in Ohio will now be able to get their medication when they need it. Oprah Winfrey is poo pooing reports that she wants to move to Washington, D.C. to be closer to America’s new first family, The Obamas. It was reported that Winfrey was looking to buy a $50 million mansion in D.C. Spokespeople for Winfrey say “The Mighty O” is staying in Chicago.

The Disney movie Old Dogs will feature the final screen appearance of Actor/Comedian Bernie Mac. Mac filmed the movie with John Travolta and Robin Williams before he became sick. The movie will be released in 2009.

The entertainment world lost a legend on Christmas Day with the passing of Earth Kitt. Kitt, 81, died from colon cancer. The Emmy Award-winning actress, singer and dancer led an incredible life that was filled with many highs and lows. She was sexy, sensual and scandalous. Kitt was an outspoken advocate for peace, and she was against the Vietnam War. Some of her most notable work included the Christmas classic Santa Baby, her role as “Catwoman” in the 60’s TV series Batman and a comeback in the 90’s calling Eddie Murphy “Marcus darling” in Boomerang.

Bobby Brown has signed on for another reality show. Brown will be joining the cast of the U.K. show Celebrity Big Brother.

Montel Williams is back on TV. Williams is hosting the infomercial Living Well with Montel. Williams is promoting better health through his topics, books and products.

Congrats to Eva Marcille and Actor Lance Gross. They got engaged over the holidays. Marcille was known as Eva Pigford when she won America’s Next Top Model. She is currently starring in the soap opera The Young And The Restless. Gross stars on the Tyler Perry TV show The House Of Payne. Now speaking of Tyler Perry, his new TV show, Meet The Browns, debuts Wednesday, January 7th 10pm on the TBS Network. Just wanted to say Happy New Years to all my friends out there!!! I have been away for a while and I intend to get back on top of things. =)

SO much has been going on...the end of the year was extremely rough for me while not only losing my nana but about 9 days later my daughter lost another great grandmother....just really tough times.

SO..anyway...I was anticipating a new year to begin, JUMPING out of 2008 and gliding into 2009..real slow. =) I started my 1st Sunday off in CHURCH and communion so that was great. After church me and one of my best scrap buds came back and did The Biggest Loser Cardio DVD. The ORIGINAL plan was to walk a mountain here in town called "Little Mountain" Cars do drive on it, but unfortunately there are no sidewalks...Why are you asking? Well it is a good physical challenge to start our year off. We talked and talked and talked about it last year and just never got around to doing it.

So last weekend at a crop one of our other scrap friends kinda tried to put us on blast, questioning to what happened to Little Mountain...and like yeah right...you aren't gonna do it! The HELL WE WEREN'T! LOL! So we set it for today but...it became extremely windy over night! So...that is why we did the DVD instead. We will shoot for next Sunday!
I will try and post a pic of the mountain and the view later.

So anyway...I have a lot of things I wish to accomplish this year to name a few:

Putting God first
Focus on my marriage
Pay off 3 credit cards (which I already did one!)
Travel SOMEWHERE this year as a family
Do some things with my home, like painting and taking a stab at making over some rooms
Get my scrap room together
GO TO THE DENTIST....Im scared yall!
Eat healthier
Try and scrap more

So anyway...speaking of eating healthier..I weighed in this morning and I have lost almost 20 pounds...which is good for me. Yahooo....I have never weighed this in a long time...and no I am not posting the numbers!

LOL!

I am also hoping to do this 365 photo challenge for the year...I need to post my pics!

**Can anybody give me some suggestions on how to keep track of the pics you take and how you stored them, etc.? I need some pointers... I think what I have in mind is making a folder on the computer specifically for this challenge.

Anyway...Reggie has something planned for us today, not quite sure what, but I hope its something fun!

Bre's 1st Day at the Park

Don't even get on me....
Yes, it is her first time at the park...for some reason it never really crossed her mind to take her to the park until one of my coworkers & good friend (LAURIE!) got on me for not introducing her to the park yet!

So..in light of everything going on, we managed to escape to the park about a month ago. We went to a park right by my moms house....

She had a wonderful time....doing all the things you shouldn't do on the playground...like walking / climbingup the slide the incorrect way (instead of walking around climbing up the stairs!) ~_~ Anyway....while we were there, the Ice Cream truck happened to rollon through and we shared an ice cream sandwich! It was yummy. SO I thought that we would go home after the ice cream....WRONG! Well we stayed a little longer and man she got pissed we we had to leave..I tried to tell her we would be back...but she wasn't havin it!

4-1-1 ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 2ND, 2008

When the new season of Bravo’s Real Housewives Of Atlanta returns, will it be renamed The BROKE Housewives Of Atlanta? Two of the stars are having serious financial problems. Nene Leakes the breakout star was recently evicted from her 5,000 square-foot, five-bedroom home. The Leakes family had to leave after owing $6,240 in back rent. Dang, I thought they owned the house! With all the fancy designer handbags and bling jewelry, they were renters? Aw dang! Nene is married to a real estate investor, and apparently they rented their home through a corporate deal that went south. So where is Nene living? She won’t say. Maybe these questions will be answered next year during the new season of Atlanta Housewives. Sheree Whitfield, the mean, selfish housewife, is reportedly selling her mansion. She didn’t get as much as she thought in her divorce settlement. Word has it she has also pulled her children out of their private schools. As much as I enjoyed this show, it makes me wonder were these women just frontin’? Tell me what you think.

What a year it has been for Oscar Winner Morgan Freeman. Later this month, he’s getting honored along with Barbra Streisand as part of the Kennedy Center Honors. He’s also getting a divorce from his wife of 24 years. Earlier this year, Freeman almost lost his life when he was involved in a car crash with a woman who wasn’t his wife. The Freeman marriage has been troubled for a while. Morgan has reportedly moved in with another woman who was friends with his wife. Myrna Freeman decided she had had enough: Morgan, Keep Your Blonde! Just Show Me The Money! Myrna Freeman stands to get up to $170 million in a divorce settlement. Freeman has property around the world, and that’s where his wealth derives. If this divorce costs as much as this, guess who’ll be driving miss daisy now?

Speaking of the Kennedy Center Honors, Ne-Yo, Beyonce and Queen Latifah are all scheduled to take part in the festivities, which will air on CBS December 30th.

The hottest actress of the moment has to be Taraji P. Henson. She’s co starring in the Brad Pitt movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. The movie opens in theatres on Christmas Day. Henson plays his mom. Henson is also starring in the new Jamie Foxx-T.I. video Just Like Me. Henson is hysterical and she shows off her comedic skills. In addition to these projects, Henson is starring in the new T.D. Jakes’ movie Not Easily Broken with Morris Chestnut and Jennifer Lewis. And, her latest Tyler Perry movie, The Family That Preys, is scheduled for DVD released in early 2009. I had a chance to talk to the beautiful actress, and she was a delight. Her first starring role was in the John Singleton movie Baby Boy, and she says her career has been on a role ever since. Henson is also best known for her role opposite Terrence Howard in the Oscar-nominated film Hustle And Flow.

Chicago police have officially charged William Balfour with the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s family members. Balfour was the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia. Balfour has been in custody since the night after the bodies of Hudson’s mother and brother were found. A couple of days later, the 7-year old nephew was found murdered. Did Balfour confess to being at the scene of the crime to his current pregnant girlfriend? Did Balfour have an accomplice? He faces life imprisonment if convicted. In the meantime, the sisters are at odds on what to do with the house where the family was murdered. Jennifer wants the house torn down, but her sister Julia wants to continue living there.

Soul Train Founder Don Cornelius is in a lot of trouble for assaulting his wife, and he could windup in jail. Who is this woman? Friends say the trouble for Cornelius started when he married Viktoria Chapman-Cornelius, a Russian model who is much younger than him. Chapman loves to party, and she and Cornelius hosted wild private parties. What provoked the attack? Cornelius has been ordered to stay away from his young wife. Will the couple divorce? Will she get his money if he goes to jail? Cornelius faces up to five years in jail for assaulting his wife. He also had to turn in his massive gun collection.

The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin is teaming up with Sean “Diddy” Combs for a new talent show. The Queen and the hip hop mogul will be searching the country for talented R&B and hip hop stars. Unlike most competitions where an audience decides the winner, Franklin and Diddy will pick the winners. Now speaking of the man formerly known as “Puffy,” he wants to be the first black James Bond. He has reportedly spent thousands on an audition tape showing him in exotic locales surrounded by beautiful women.

This was not a good week for Cedric The Entertainer. His first attempt at Broadway failed. His stage play with John Leguizamo, American Buffalo, opened and closed the same week. In a weak The weak economy, Broadway’s box office has been hit hard.

Gabrielle Union has just signed a TV deal with NBC. Union is in a development deal to play a detective. She is no stranger to TV despite her big screen success. Back in 2005, she co-starred in the ABC Nightstalker show and last year she was in Ugly Betty. Union is best known for her big screen movies including Bring It On, Daddy’s Little Girls, Deliver Us From Eva and Bad Boys II.

Speaking of our girl Gabby and the movies, this week, she and Beyonce team up with Oscar Winner Adrian Brody and Jeffrey Wright for the movie Cadillac Records. Beyonce is playing the Legendary Etta James.

Actor Courtney B. Vance has also signed a TV deal but with ABC for the new series Flash Forward. Vance was recently on the hit NBC show ER with his wife Angela Bassett.

Mike Tyson in trouble again? YES! Tyson ran his car into a friend’s gate on Thanksgiving. Tyson’s Escalade tore the gate down in Las Vegas. He got a ticket from police. What a way to greet guests for the holidays.

The January editions of Essence and Ebony magazines will be collectors’ editions. President Elect Barack Obama will be on the cover of Ebony. This is his first print interview since being elected as the first African American President Of The United States. This issue will also feature never before seen photos. Michelle Obama graces the new issue of Essence. Our future first lady looks fabulous. These issues are on newsstands this week.

Tyler Perry has given up his fighting with the unions. He will now be employing union workers. Perry caught a lot of flak after he fired several non union workers. The situation actually got messy with protests and picketing outside his Atlanta studios. Perry recently signed deals with various unions including Writers Guild (WGA), Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the Teamsters unions.

After 29 years, get ready for more FAME. The 1980 hit movie with Irene Cara is being remade with Debbie Allen, who will act as the principal of the performing arts school. The cast will also include Actors Charles S. Dutton and Kelsey Grammer. The movie is due out next September.
Another familiar story returning to the big screen in the form of a sequel is Beverly Hills Cop IV. Director Brett Ratner says his version, with Eddie Murphy investigating the death of his partner, will open in theatres in 2010.

Is singer Ciara set to become a Victoria Secret model? The popular singer is being courted to become the newest spokesperson.

Congrats to the McNabb family. Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb and his wife Roxie are the proud parents of twins. The boy and girl were born this week. The McNabbs also have a four year-old daughter.

The 15th Annual Essence Music Festival is set for July 3rd, 4th and 5th in New Orleans. Beyonce is the first musical guest announced. There will also be seminars featuring Prophetess Juanita Bynum and Roland Martin. Plus, there’ll be an all star tribute to Bishop T.D. Jakes.

We will certainly miss the TV presence of CBS 3 News Anchor Angela Russell. She anchored the 4pm newscast. Her contract was not renewed, and she will be leaving the station.

Will Smith has been named one of the Most Fascinating People Of 2008. The Barbara Walters Special airs December 4th on ABC. Tom Cruise, Miley Cyrus, Tina Fey, and Michael Phelps are also featured.

Toni Braxton will continue with Dancing With The Stars, but not on the small screen. Braxton has joined the touring company, and their Philadelphia stop will be in February.

The new season of American Idol: Season Number 8 kicks off January 13-14th.

For its 50th anniversary, Motown Records is releasing a new box set of songs that the fans have picked. The box set is due December 9th. The 10 disc CD will feature 191 songs from your favorite Motown stars including Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells and Martha & The Vandellas, to name a few.

Queen Latifah will be hosting the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards to be held January 7th on CBS.

The 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards will take place on February 12th.

Lionel Richie is getting ready to release his new CD next year. Richie will be teaming up with Singer/Songwriter Ne-Yo for his next CD entitled Just Go.

Musiq (Soulchild) returns with his latest CD, On My Radio, on December 9th. The CD features his hit duet with Mary J. Blige, If U Leave.

Lee Daniels latest movie with Mariah Carey, Tennessee, opens in theatres December 19th

Sinbad and Yolanda Adams will be hosting the 21st Annual Stellar Awards. Gospel Sensation Marvin Sapp is leading the pack with nine nominations including song and male vocal. The show is taking place January 17th.

The movie, Notorious, based on the life of Rapper Biggie Smalls, a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G., is gearing up for its release, which is scheduled for January 16th, 2009. Angela Bassett will be playing Biggie’s mom, Volletta Wallace.

The Whispers are coming out with a holiday DVD. The famed singing group has been performing for over 45 years. Christmas With The Whispers features holiday classic and interviews.

This woman is so desperate to hang on to a faded Singer that she will go along with his lame publicity stunts. This Singer is still in love with his ex-wife, and needs her to help his stalled career. At the moment, he is using his current girlfriend to help him get back with his ex.

Arkansas...what can I say. I ate alot, and had a good time. My step mom I swear never left the freakin kitchen! Bre was eating like she aint never ate before! Making it seem like i never feed her! Hmph!

The kids had a great time, Bre did very well on the airplane trip, (Thanks to all who gave me advice to deal with the elevation and ears). Everything worked out great!

Anyway, my dad was so happy to see us. Well...Bre more than me I think! The last time he saw her was when she was maybe 2 or 3 months. He was just so tickled. Little rock is about 2 hours from Warren Arkansas which is where my dad lives. My dad says, "Make sure you shake the smog off your clothes before you come into my house!" Ha ha..he had jokes. There is absolutely no smog there...air quality is great! I am so happy for my dad as he is out there living the retired life and he goes fishing and hunting at least once a month. So he is definitely enjoying himself.

I can't wait to go back, I had a good time!

She Came to Tell Me Bye...

My nana finally went home to the Lord yesterday morning around 3:30am....yes, I was in Arkansas waking up to get to the airport.

I miss her already...

We were two hours ahead of my Cali family, so I had my alarm set at 5:00am...well it was a short sleep because we didn't get to bed till about 3am anyway...
Well, I woke up a little prior to my alarm going off by a little brush of air....I turned to look behind me to see if Breanna was up or Reg, but they were sound asleep. It was my nana...telling me that she was going home and that she is flying free. I didn't realize it was her until we touched down in Denver and I received the news when I called my mom. I immediately remember feeling that brush of air around 5 my time around 3 their time. It was her. I am okay with this because it was not a total surprise and I know where she is....and I will definitely see her again one day. I knew this day was coming, but it just came too fast. We were going to try and have Christmas early for her to have one last Christmas, but she was ready to go home.

Is it ironic that she waited for me to enjoy my trip to visit my dad and that wonderful retreat I went on a few weeks ago? Nana knew how excited I was about my retreat I was going on, because she knew I needed that time, and she really knew how excited we were to go to Arkansas to see my dad. So...it is ironic to me that she waited to go the day I would depart Arkansas. It happened so early in the morning so that I would not see her in the condition that remained.

I am TRULY TRULY blessed to have such wonderful memories of a strong black woman in my life. She grew up in the era of racism and such and had encountered to much as a child. She faced so much growing up but overcame. She gave birth to 5 children which only 3 are still here. From the 3 she has 4 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. I am so glad that she got to love all of us and especially happy that Breanna was able to have fun times with her. Bre may be too young to remember Nana, but there will be wonderful stories to tell her when she gets older.

Thanks you so much for all your constant prayers, thoughts and encouragement...it has been a short journey, but glad it was not prolonged.
