Revisiting LOL vs. LOLI!

LOL VS LOLI...

Tuesday, 04 July 2006
You are probably wondering what the heck is a LOLI!?

Well I actually just thought about this....when people type "LOL"....who really Laughs Out Loud?! I mean be honest....if you did you would probably frighten everyone around you, heck you might even frighten yourself!!!

LOL started along time ago when chat rooms were really active in the what, early-mid 90's? There are so many acronyms its kinda humorous...LOLI!

What about ROTF? "Rolling On The Floor" are we really rolling on the floor? It was so funny we just fell out our chair, collapsed and did a stop, drop, and roll? LOL!!! (really, I did have to laugh at that one!).

Okay here is another one....ROTFLMAO..?? Does anyone ever Roll On The Floor Laughin' their A&% Off? Well for me I have never laughed that hard where it drops me to my knees on the computer!

Don't get me wrong...their has been times where I am laughing so hard on the inside it hurts...so I hearby begin a new Acronym...LOLI LOL means: "Laughing Out Loud Inside!!" HA HAHAAA!! I am still LOLI'ing...just because its so true and funny at the same time!
Hope you had a LOLI reading!
Have a great day and really try LOL today!

Adventures of the New Ice Cream Maker!

Reggies first Father's Day gift. Am I nice or what? Well my husband has this thing about ice cream! I asked him what he wanted for Father's Day and he stated an ice cream maker, so an ice cream maker it was!
And I heard pregnant women are the ice cream eaters! Yeah right! Well above, I took a picture of this HUGE concoction he made prior to getting the maker. It contained the following: Vanilla Ice Crea, Chocolate topping, Caramel topping, strawberries, banannas, and whip cream to top it off! He had this 2 nights in a row...and it was like 10ish.
So the top picture shows his nice new ice cream maker...he made his first batch last night about 10 something last night! Mind you he had to get up for work the next morning! So it had to spin for like 4 minutes and I think he got impatient and stopped it to early, eager to taste his creation....cause he "thought it was done!" So anyway...after removing the ice cream from the maker he put it in the freezer. It is supposed to freeze for at least an hour I think...can you believe he set his alarm clock to wake back up and taste it! LOL!
Anyway, he wasn't happy with the first batch so guess what...we got a 2nd batch tonight..The taste was good, but the texture wasn't quite right. But I told him he needs to be patient! So anyway...2nd batch...the maker started making all kinds of noise! I was like REGGIE!!!! Come check your ice cream! He wants to make a 3rd batch and is on his way to the store to get more ice!!!! It is 10:17pm!!!! HELLO!? LOL!! IS he serious or what. I told him to look at his troubleshooting manual and read the directions again! Come to find out was not doing a few things....leave it up to men to skip directions and try and take short cuts!
Well at least he loves his gift! I didn't go wrong! LOL!
Wish him luck! LOL!

Yes! More time has passed...

Okay, yes, I admit...there has been a MAJOR gap in between my last post! YES IT SAYS SEPTEMBER! Well I do have a good excuse! I am due as in NOW for my baby girl to come into this world. Not only that, I have kinda abandonned my blog here and I don't know why! I am involved in so many other things, apart of this group, that group and it gets overwhelming at times.

The main reason I started this blog was for family to keep up with me and what is goin on with me and my life. So, today, I vow to try better at keeping this darn thing updated.

I am expecting Breanna Nichole to join us in our household soon...she is due next Sunday, but she seems to be acting a little stubborn! Hopefully she will cooperate soon and come on and stop playing!

Other than that...summer is around the corner and it is HOT already. I know its nothing like what it is about to be...I am home all day and what does that mean? The air is running all day. I refuse to sweat in my own house. No way Jose!

Well this is my makeup post...I will come back soon...promise!

Ciao!

Philosophy....

GREAT TRUTHS
Philosophy
GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED
:1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2) When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
10) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:
1) Raising teenagers is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD
1) Growing up is mandatory; growing old is optional.
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:
1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:
At age 4 success is . . not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is having friends.
At age 16 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 35 success is . having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 70 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . having friends.
At age 80 success is . not peeing in your pants.

Pass this on to someone who could use a laugh.Always remember to forget the troubles that pass your way; BUT NEVER forget the blessings that come each day.

Kitchen Under Construction

Well today is the day! I am getting my new kitchen cabinets installed! Better than Home Depot! Oh they look awesome, and they aren't even done yet. I got to pick the type of wood down to the type of stain, design of molding..everything! I am pretty excited as this was a big step for us. As you know remodeling a kitchen can be a little pricey....we are officially in debt! LOL! But its okay this is our home!

So last weekend we had all our cabinets knocked down, it looked horrible, but looking at it now you could never tell! We got it painted during the week as well...the color is called Tobacco Road...looks real nice. I will post some before and after pics later....

Ciao for now!

Oprah's Legends Ball

This special was truly amazing. It was so heart felt. I did indeed get teary eyed..BECAUSE...it was beautiful seeing all of those African American women recieve credit for all the hard work they gave. The legends had to deal with more open racism back then which made it even harder for them to live out their dream. TRUST when I say racism is still very much alive, but some people choose to NOT see it OR they just don;t recognize it because they don't know what to look for.

All of those women up there were strong women, oh my goodness to name a few, Rosa Parks (Rest In Peace), Coretta Scott King, Cicily Tyson, Maya Angelou, Shirley Caesar, Diahann Carroll, Elizabeth Catlett, Ruby Dee, Katherine Dunham, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Nikki Giovanni, Dorothy Height, Lena Horne, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Toni Morrison, Leontyne Price, Della Reese, Diana Ross, Naomi Sims, Tina Turner, Alice Walker, Dionne Warwick and Nancy Wilson. OMG this was incredible to see.

The poem that was read, "We Speak Your Name" was so powerful! I don't know what to say other than that, I honor Oprah for televising something like this!

I LOVE OPRAH!!!!

This weekend was a freakin BLAST!!!!

I had the best time of my life!
This past weekend, my scrapbook group planned a scrapbook retreat in Palm Springs. It was great. There were 6 of us. Let me give you a little taste of what I was dealing with this weekend. We were at a 3 bedroom villa, where each bedroom had their own bathroom wich was nice. Before hand Andrea (who hosts the retreats), asked us which is our favorite snacks and drinks. She had AMPLE supply of goodies. When we got there, she had goodie bags for all of us. She waited on us hand and foot. She made our freakin beds for cryin' out loud! Cooked us complete meals, for breakfast, lunch and dinner! even had some sweets for us at night time. She made sure we wanted nothing, we were never bored. We pretty much entertained ourselves.
Saturday we kinda hung out more than anything...some of us had massages whoch were GREAT, we went shopping at the local scrapbook store and some went to clothing stores. There was a pool and jacuzzi in the back yard, not to mention which was a private patio. We were all out there hangin out, laughing, dancing, we must have watched about 10 movies! We ate like all day! It was just awesome, totally worth the price! Check out where we were: www.sundancevillas.com, we were in the Victoria Villa.
If you are interetsed in a scrapbook retreat and you are in Southern Cali area here is the website: www.psletsscrap.com I wish I could go back!!!

If my dad heard me say, "I'm tired", I would hear one of the following:

1. Do you know me and your mama use to come home from parties at 4 in the morning and get back up at 6:00 in the morning for work?
2. You are too young to be tired!

I'm sorry but times have just completely changed. The things you use to do back then....no way possible you can do them today. Sorry, Chaw-lie!
So, as most of you know I started back to school this quarter and I got this promotion at work right? I am burnt out! How am I supposed to be focused enough on the weekends to scrap?! I mean this is just plaine ole ridiculous! I work 10 hour shifts each day, MW I am in class right after work till 8pm, then TR I am in class from 7-10pm, right after work... I think my priorites are a little jacked up though, because I could be looking in my text books rather than blogging and thinking about all the other fun things I could be doing, like completing my All About Me Book that needs to be done by this Saturday!! Hello!?

I am taking this music class...and I am just too through! I have never had any musical background, and we are expected to learn to read music, write it, and play it on a Soprano Recorder! Oh yeah...and teach a lesson plan! By the way, it is Music in the Classroom in case you were wondering...AND it is required! ARGHH!!!! I dread this class! And because we are on a 10 week quarter system it makes it more complicated because he teaches way to quick! Its not that I don't appreciate music, but learning to play it is compicated, especially if you are an adult with 100 million things on your mind! Now, give me some music and I can sure dnace to it! And I have rhythm and I can find the beat! But play it? Thats a different story!
Okay I am done venting....
Ciao!

1st Laker Playoff Game...

Went pretty sour. In my opinion the refs of course were NOT in our favor. True, we were behind majority of the time, but boy were they callin some real bad calls, and didn't make any right calls! Well they didn't do so well for the first game, hopefully we can take the next game. Lakers need to work on their ball control, way too many turnovers!

Other than the Laker Game, we invited some family and friends over for BBQ it was a good day. We had carne asada, chicken, hot links, greens, corn on the cop, macaroni salad and potato salad....I think I got everything. Oh! Baked beans! How can I forget the beans! Everything was yummy!

Went on a mini shopping spree today!

Yes! I had fun today, I went shopping! The only funny thing about it is I didn't buy not one scrap related item! Isn't that something? Lane Bryant was having a really nice sale 25% off everything, and I had one of those nice gift cheques, like if you spend $225, you get $75.00 off. taht was nice. Since I am kinda tall, they are the only place I can find just the right fit. they had some cute skirts and nice summer shirts. Then I hit up Mervyn's cause the cashier that was ringing me up had the nerve to tell me that they were having a store wide sale too! All their shoes were like 50% off and had some really cute sandals, but you can imagine what the shoe isle looked like! Like a toy isle on Christmas Eve! THEN...off to Target! Bought some more clothes and some things for around the house.

Now, you may be asking yourself, I hit up even Target and didn't buy no scrapbook stuff?! You gotta remember, I gotta look good when I scrap right!?? HA HA HAA!! No seriously, I always indulge in supplies, so I figured I get some clothes this time, for work and play.
I met my sister and nephew for lunch at Chilis which was all good...I am still full.
Overall I had a good day!

Holla!!

Sunny Day in Cali

Was today beautiful or what? Besides the ever so thick layer if brownish, orange'ish smog layer....it was a breautiful day! See...if you live in Southern Cali, you have learn how to look past that big thick nasty cloud of funk! The weather was nice, opened up the sun/moon roof cruised to my music....I hated to get out of the car. Nothing like rollin in your car feeling the breeze while playng your music!

The mountains are becoming so green from all the rain, some of the mountains still have snow on them, it was about 84 defrees today, just lovely! Hearing birds chir, birds fly, kids playing outside...nice!

Please tell me WHY is it scheduled to rain again? They said tomorrow..but I didn't see any clouds in the sky. I guess we will see tomorrow morning!

Hasta!

Monday Blues...

Well, back to work today and still no computer! I work at a place where most the communication is done on the computer! Wow! what is a girl to do? Am I upset that I can't get any work done? Or more upset that I can't get on the internet to check my mail, go to my Yahoo Group, check my blog and other favorite blogs, or see who if any has left any comments on My PLace? LOL!! Well the latter is the truth! Well I officially started my new job today, and did some training. They do job shadowing for 3 months...whoa! Its a lot to learn, but it was confessed that we were being kinda thrown into the job! So wish me luck.
Also school started back today. ARGH! Do you know how difficult it is to pass your home to go to class and sit for 2 hours!!?? What a dread! Found out that one of my text books is running $100.00...and thats just one class, got one more tomorrow! I am blessed to work for a company that pays for your education! WOO HOO...maybe I will see if I can get reimbursed for my text books..I will give it a try.
Anyway, well late nights for me at least for this future quarter ahead of me.
Ciao for now!

Why is everyone sleeping on Goapele?

This woman is talented...I love her music? It seems like today, real talent does not get played on the radio? Why is that? She is from the bay and has a style of her own. Very talented...hopefully to see her more in the light soon. Other artist that get passed over on the radio stations are:
Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Musiq, Kem, geez thats just to name a few....
Well we shall see...
